Categories & Forum problem

Post by KyleH on Tue Nov 18, 2008 6:21 am

I'm so new at this!
I'm trying to add a new forum but I can't. I click on 'General' and sometimes it takes me 10 tries to get that page.
When I do finally get the 'General' page, I click on 'Categories and forums' and poof, I'm sent back to the 'Home' page!
I cannot get into 'Categories and Forums'.... please help!

Sanket...
When I say I'm a newbie at this, I mean a COMPLETE newbie. Browser? Dunno...
I turn on my machine and it connects to Road Runner for the internet. Then I get into AOL and click on the Forum. So, I guess, AOL would be my browser, right?

The Forum was working fine on the 13th when I added a new forum and changed some of the others, but now.... nope

Mr Mario...

Thanks, but that didn't help.
I clicked on Admin Panel, then on Display. But when I clicked on Index Packing it bumped me back to the Home Page.... over and over and over again.

I thought maybe it was just that level of the Message Board I couldn't get in to, but under 'General', I can get into 'Configuation', but not the next one down, 'Categories and Forums'. arrrrgggghhhhhh!

Yes, AOL is your browser and ISP..

Are you an Admin or the Founder of the site you are trying to use?

Demonspike,

I am the Founder (and Admin, I guess). But I started this and I'm the only one capable of changing things. That is frightening Smile

DS, you asked what version I'm using. I have no idea where to find that out but I see there is a new version, 3.0.3 that was posted after I set my Message Board up so it would have to be newer, I should think. If I downloaded the newer version, would it erase all the work I've put in on my present Board? And it might just solve my problem (which isn't fixed yet).

So I'm asking... is it safe to download a newer version and not lose anything on the older Board?

I still get bounced to the home page when I click on 'categories and forums' on the general page in the admin panel. Several others are having the same problem. Any suggestions?

me too me too. I sure wish someone would clear this up. As the founder of my forum, it really sucks that I can't do squat in my own admin panel.

BTW
I am wondering if I don't have the new version of administration panel. At the bottom it says 'old version'.. :/
