Email ban list

Post by JulieG on September 4th 2008, 12:28 pm

I have been added e mail addresses to my banned email ban list for several weeks now, I have just gone to add another, and the list is empty. Do you they only remain there for a set period of time?

do you have any other admins that could have removed them? otherwise I do not see why this would have happened.

there is only myself that could have possibly removed them, and I didnt. I didnt know there was a set period to add them for, I thought it was indefinite until removed.

it is not permanent until removed and also another member was having this problem recently so it might be a problem with the server.

I dont know if this happens with forumotion however i discovered a couple of weeks back that members on a technical site were simply disabling there email address's and reactivating them again a day later after being banned

For some reason when they deactivate the email address the information was being wiped

Then they could access the forums again, the technical site started banning IP address's

Not sure if this will help any but i suggest looking over the posts these members made, gathering their IP address's and banning their IP address

regards

I banned IP addresses once before, and ended up banning myself, as everyone on AOL for example has the same IP address!

I also thought you could only find IP addresses when a member was actually on line, and some of the email addresses I am banning have not been members, nor have they made any posts.

If they are non members then you can only retrieve their IP address when they are online, If they are registered then you can select the "IP" button on their post and see what IP they used and then ban it

AOL use similar IP address's? crazy lol

At the moment i don't have any other suggestions

It depends on what skin you are using but it should be under or next to the users avatar

Normally only the admins and mods will be able to see this tool

I have just gone to put another deleted email address, and all the ones I entered previously have now disappeared again, is this another bug from the new update, and will it be looked at soon please? It is not always applicable to ban an IP address, as this particular person has not been a member, and neither do I want them to be. thank you

One of the users I have banned has now been able to rejoin as the banned email address had yet again disappeared. The account was automatically activated (this is another problem I have raised),

http://help.forumotion.com/need-of-a-technician-f3/new-users-are-automatically-registering-without-me-manually-activating-help-please-t20454.htm

and they were able to gain access to the forum. I banned them again two days ago, and yet again the banned email address has disappeared.

Is there an update on any of these errors please?
