Group Problems

Post by pompeyrayuk on December 3rd 2008, 10:25 am

I first posted this on the 7th July and still have no answer.

Lately when I activate a new member it creates them as a personal member group.
How do I stop this please?

You mean the new members are added to a group ? If yes, in which group ?

Well I noticed on mine, that jst.tabby when signed up this is what it said

TD's 2 Admin Closed group
Moderators 2 Admin Hidden group
jst.tabby 1 Admin Hidden group
HTD's 1 Admin Closed group

So why is jst.tabby a hidden group?

It's maybe cause, on your forum, when they register, they can choose if they want to be in a group. Try to make a Test Account.

if you remove all the ones that are not mods or admins of your site this should fix the problem. and just keep your mods names in there like i have here and it should fix it here is a screen shot of my one now i have removed the other ones and its fixed now Very Happy

I have the same problem (sorry to get your hopes up for an answer). Since you're also having this problem, and no one has an answer, I'm guessing it's a glitch in the system. I thought it was just because I'm new at this whole forum thing and didn't understand yet. But I'm having the exact problem as you. Thanks for bringing it to light.

I honestly haven't seen anything like this before. This is just a wild, 'out of nowhere' suggestion, but try changeing the group alignment number of one of the Personal User groups (which is currently 125) to a different member and see if that does something.

Yeh ok I can waste time deleting them each and every time a member joins but that doesnt solve anything does it. All that does is save you lot trying to find out the issues.

I am just trying to troubleshoot. If i had to save a lot trying to find the issues, i could have just ignored your question.

Hello,

I have seen this particular case once before, but don't know how it was corrected.

Along with Sanket's idea of removing the user from the usergroup, have you tried deleting the actual group itself?

This seems like a techie problem Confused

You can remove the groups individually yes but each time a member joins the group would rear its ugly little head again.
