Solved How do I set my forum to private?

Post by SweetMysty on July 4th 2009, 2:49 pm

I want to set my forum to private, but I want guests to see users online, and also be able to see the memberlists, so they will know who has registered. How do I do this?

I think that isn't possible on Forumotion.com
You can only put your forum on holiday or in construction.

ACP=>General Tab=>Forum=>Categories and forums=>Choose forum=>Permissions=>View the forum and its messages=>Members=>Save

Guest will not be able to view your forum.Just do this with all of your forums.

You can also disallow new members on your forum:

ACP=>Users & Groups Tab=>Users=>Users options=>Allow new members=>No=>Save

Or you can manually activate your friends account,so you can manage who's registering:

ACP=>Users & Groups Tab=>Users=>Users options=>New accounts activation=>Admin=>Save

Hope I helped, Hello

Okay... The only problem is.. I was wanting the "guest" to be able to see who was online and also be able to see who was online in the last 24 hours.. is that possible?

Okay.. I just checked and it is on root index only. It does show on my forum, but only for my members to view. I also wanted it to be shown to my guests who have not signed in yet. Is that possible?

Okay.. I have figured it out! As long as there is one forum "open" for guest to see.. then the online status will display at the bottom, and guest will be able to see who has been online in the last 24 hours. So... I just made an Introduction board welcoming guests and lurkers to register. :wouhou: Thanks for all your help.. and this thread can be set to "solved" now Very Happy
