I'm not sure I understand your question though, you want to make it so member can just post on the forum? Can you please explain in better detail what it is you need help with?

Ahh ,Ok so you have a member, you don't want to ban him, you just want to prevent him from being able to post?

Unfortunately, I do not believe that is possible for say an individual member to have only that permission taken away without modifying the permissions for ALL members on the forum in the Admin Panel=>General=>Forum=>Categories and Forums=>Forum Permission Control..

Oh shame ... i strictly dont want to ban noone ...

I have an idea though.. You can create a group, call it "punished" or whatever, add that member to that group and modify the permissions to only allow him to read the topics and nothing else. Kind of like a punishment, since you don't want to ban him. Just something else to consider.

Actually Charlie, after further testing this possible option on my test forum now ,I see I do not think it would work as in the end it would wind up changing the permissions of all members, just to disable that groups permissions anyway.

Well, I thought that might have worked, I'm sorry. I can't really think of another way to just keep him from Not being able to post.

Have you considered a Temporary Ban? Like inform this member if he continues to post against your requesting him not too, that he would receive a temp ban for say 24, 48, 72 hours, then he can come back and if his disregarding your requests continues, elevate it to a permanent ban? That's how to work it on my forum, at least it would be a chance your giving him to respect your decisions, rules or be banished from the forum completely.

You can do this but it is a bit of work.

First go to all your forums and reset the permission so that you uncheck members and guests to post. Click save.

Then you go back to each forum and check every member you want to be able to post and then click save.

It is a bit of work but it does work.

Like I have all my members in groups and that is how i do it as well.
