Private Messaging Problem

I looked through the FAQs and did a search and couldn't find the solution to this:

We send mass PMs to groups people on our forum have joined - or just mass PM members with announcements. Admins could do this as short time ago as last week, now this message comes up when I try:


Sorry, but no such user exists.

...and the PMs don't go out.

Plus, none of us can use the + function to add another member to PM, nor can we use the Findausername function.

Has anyone run into this kind of issue - and if so, how do you solve it. I've tried to look in the Admin Panel for the obvious answer, but I must be missing something.

Hmm... can I have a snapshot of the error in question? I don't know, but it may help me get what's going on.

I never really knew how to take a screen shot like that. Is there a simple way to do it?

I was just playing a bit with the feature, and have found something interesting

If you want to send the same message to multiple people at once, you CAN do it, it's just more difficult here because you have to hit the "Preview" button BEFORE sending it.
When u hit the preview button, it will basically refresh the page and in the "to" aka "who it goes to" space, another box will pop up just underneath the current one.
Just fill that one in with the next desired person, and just repeat until there is everyone you want to send to is there, then hit the "send" button.

This is however a mere temporary solution.
By looking at things, I will have to go around and ask for help from
the staff, and request this to be moved to the technical section, and
get our french lesion to look at the problem, and forward it to the
technician's.

What's the chances that someone has hit us with a virus? I ask because we had one disgruntled ex-member who threatened it. I thought that there might be no way to do that, but perhaps this is what's happening.

And if that's the case, is there an anti-virus that can be run through our Forum?

Your forum is safe from Virus' and their stupid attack's.
A virus can only get onto ur forum if they can get into the database, which that cannot be done, as only the technician's of forumotion can access the database - Period.

I assure you of that

yes , Forumotion is a secure forum . People cant hack your forum by using Needles or tricks .

You said the "+" doesn't work when you try to add a member ?

If yes, this looks more like Javascript is disabled.

I ask you these questions :
- Which browser are you using ?
- Have you disabled Javascript in the browser's options or by using NoScript extension for Firefox ?

To allow Javascript in Firefox...
- Windows version : Options > Preferences > Content > Enable Javascript
- Linux version : Edit > Preferences > Content > Enable Javascript
And if you use NoScript extension, just allow Javascript from gmhockey.com

No, we've all tried that. There are 100 of us, all using Firefox and all have our settings correct. It's an odd one as Darren can attest I think.

Ok, this issue is still occurring, after changing the skin several times.

Can we get this sent to the techies, as this is quite obviously not related to the skin or the update, and has been occurring on all browsers & for an extended period of time, with the only alternative being a slow alternative to comprehend

Still not working; iv changed the add-member button several times now.

Anyone got idea's, or can send this to the techies?

Right, iv triple checked my java and everything on ff & G Chrome, neither browser's are doing it for me.

It now appears that the "Find a username" box is also failing.

ANY help, or a techie, as this has been happening for an extended period of time.

Holy cow! It's working again, just out of the blue. Everyone should check theirs as well!

Agreed, it appears to be fixed for everyone now
