[Only Topic] Why advertisement ????
I have a great time with the other members but Why advertisement column reappear.

Typlo wrote:Dear user,
I'm sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused, the ads are here to support our developers and the staff so we can offer you new features.
This is only a test for the moment.
Latest Update:
Typlo wrote:We have taken into consideration your complaints, and due to popular demand we will add back the option "guests" in your admin panel.
So everything will be back to normal on your forums, but if you want to support us please keep the option as it is.
We are sorry for the inconvenience, and will be studying new revenue ways for next year, the option Goldman26 mentioned on Page 10 seems a nice alternative.

I hope this will be fixed soon. Ads for member as well, despite active only for guests in the control panel.

Re: [Only Topic] Why advertisement ????
Yep, same here. I tried to resave the settings but it made no difference. The flashing advert banner really gets on my nerves.

What was FM able to do? It will make your forum run slowly.

Re: [Only Topic] Why advertisement ????
well found a way to stop the ads from showing, however it still leaves an ugly white space where the ads go, and all forum members would need to do it individually which isn't ideal but for anyone interested follow the steps HERE

Re: [Only Topic] Why advertisement ????
Thanks Laughing Assassin, I linked that PDF on my site for my members.
At least that is something that works for a bit (tho it does lead to these 'blank' spots)
It would be great if you could find something to fix that as well!

Re: [Only Topic] Why advertisement ????
Good day, we are experiencing the same on our site. I have double checked Admin Panel, General, Configuration, and Activate Ads is set for Guests, but all are now having ads showing.
Will this be fixed soon, or is there a specific reason this has been reintroduced?
Alan

Re: [Only Topic] Why advertisement ????
We also, suddenly, have a large obtrusive advertisement appear under the forum's banner, for logged in members, even though the option for Guest only ads is activated. I think there were options to choose from as to what format the ads would take on your forum. These seem to have disappeared, as well.
Am really puzzled by this.

Doesn't seem to work on my computer. I have definately added criteo.com to the exceptions and have them blocked and yet they still show up. What am I doing wrong?

Can't say for sure, as it worked fine for me.

I have applied your instructions and it works brilliantly!!!
It doesn't even leave the 'blanks' as you described, it just takes care of the ads with no harm to my lay out.
Thanks, that is a very good solution, very clever!
BTW: I also added criteo.com to the blocked sites in the (I.E.) browser's security settings as well as to the blocked sites in my privacy settings, maybe that made a difference.
Thanks again for this easy impementable solution!

Same problem and nobody answers...
What's the purpose of the free forum, when we need to buy credits to remove ads?

Re: [Only Topic] Why advertisement ????
My forum was also similar. I do not think I violated the rules of Forumotion. Can you tell me know its not the fault of the forum. Hopefully I'll get an explanation ...
Re: [Only Topic] Why advertisement ????
Please tell me that this advertisment will NOT stay for ever!!!
It's ugly, annoying and it ruins my logo graphic!

Re: [Only Topic] Why advertisement ????
Hello all,
I'm sorry to hear this issue persists.
The re-appearance of the adds is caused by a situation ForuMotion has with the adds provider, not ForuMotion it's self.
There was an amendment appraised on friday night (or arvo in France)
It's being reported as fixed for the majority of users, except for the English users.
The issue I'm sure has already been brought up, and the techs would be working on a solution hastily, so it is here to us rapidly.
We just need to be patient for now. I'd hope that it would be here before the week end's
Pontifex, this appears as a problem, and the adds should return to normal very shortly, this isn't a permanent thing, I'm sure
P.S. patience is appreciated, whining every 5 minutes won't help, it's a problem that has to be sorted out, and tested before implemented.
Should we call this one the only topic?
EDIT: I'm going to bed, G'Night all.
I'm sure you'll be hitting the hey soon eh joybells?

DebconLady, if you read further up this thread, you will see that this situation is apparently being dealt with. Thankfully.

Thank you, the lack of info and sudden appearance of these nasty flashing ads, followed by folk saying you had to buy credits to remove them smacked of extortion by FM, I am relieved to read that they are better people than that.
