Just wondering if ths a glitch beause this forum and my other forumotion forum are still working?!

Hello Everyone,

My forum started working again about 6 hours after this whole fiasco and after everyone elses went down. What a shame, what a catastrophe for all of us. I sure hope this is the last major "blackout" we will all have to go through. My forum is still new and under 3 months old....but I've still had to answer to my members too and it's embarrassing.


I think we all agree and want our forums to be stable, dependable and operational % 99 of the time. Even though it's a free service, and we get lots of great features/functions and benefits...It's really not any different than say a hosting site like "YouTube" "Facebook" or "MySpace". On their servers, there are THOUSANDS of accounts, members and channels. The storage that they allow their members is equal to or WAY more than is allowed for our forums and the service is more dependable and if not, it's "predictable". Just meaning that down times are advertised and announced so that nobody is left in the dark over these things.

I will be the first to say that I love my new, "free" forum and all the features it gives, but if it doesn't work and perform as we all expect, then it's a bit disappointing that way.

I sincerely hope that the people who run this "service" will think about these things and consider that there are lots of other websites out there that offer similar things, but a more reliable experience.

General Error

Could not obtain post information

The white page has started again. I went to several different forums, and they had the same problem.

Nevermind, they're up again.

Over half of our members including all our admins and mods were on our forum last night in the chat room for about 7 hours. During that time, our forum went offline from a few seconds to about 3 minutes at least 6 times and the chatbox kept disconnecting active talkers in the middle of posts over 20 times (I lost count).

Is the server still having some problems?

My forum is still playing up, its still working but its very very slow. All this is making me very nervous now, ive put a lot of work into my forum as im sure everybody else has too. Surely it cant keep going on this, i know for sure that some of my members have got fed up and have stopped logging in. i cant blame them either, so would i if i was a member of a forum having so much trouble.

All these problems must have a root cause, like a rubbish server or something. Time this got sorted you know guys.

I notice this forum isnt slow, is it on a different Server or something

This is rediculous.

I don't mean to be disrespectfull, and this IS a free service and I understand that. But i'd really like to know why the forums keep going offline, becuase it's happening more often than not - and my members are at stake.

If the site is unreliable then they are GOING to stop comming online - and if I loose all my members I have to shut down the site. Sure, one site doesn't matter. But if this happens to lots of people then it's a big problem.

I know that it's free service and I should be gratefull that it even exists, but it would be nice if we could at least just know why it's happening, and if it's likely to keep happening.

Because my members can't handle it anymore - and if this doesn't get better they are going to ask that we relocate to a different server. And that's a huge inconvenience to me to have to move servers - but this is also a huge inconvenience.

I'm sorry but we too can't keep this up i think its extremely rude no one explains whats going on whether an announcement or something. Come on people. I don't want to move my members but i'm shopping around already.

well said mcaps. I totally agree, my members are getting so fed up now with this that hardly anybody is logging in these days, and im talking regular members who come on 3 to 4 times a day to post, not the lurkers i seem to have picked up.

to say this is getting frustrating is the understatement of the year and if i hadnt put so much hard work into my forum i would leave this now.

I have been patient through this time, but a thing can go on too long, and this has now.

I know that servers can go down from time to time, but the amount of problems we are having, just tells me there is something fundamentaly wrong with the server our forums are hosted on.

It's only the thought of having to start from scratch again that is keeping me here now, mind you, if this goes on much longer im not going to have any members left to run a forum for, so that argument will become mute anyway.

Mine is down too. For a moment i suspected foul play but apparently its system wide. Hope they fix the problem in a timely fashion.

The staff on here are quick to lay the law down with a heavy boot when somebody is naughty, pity they arent as quick to explain when they have a lot of worried clients on their hands.

Spiritcharms, they probably havent figured out the problem yet.
My site has been in existence for 8 months and this is the first time i am experiencing this so it very likely could be a foreign problem to them as well. Lets hope they fix the problem cos we sure have put in wayyy too much work for it all to go bust in a blink of an eye.

I do understand your frustrations though.

No disrespect here, but you have to be pulling my leg. Our sites have been down in the last few weeks more than they have been up., and when they are up, they are running slow, buggy, white pages, templates arent working properly, the list is endless ect ect.

all i can say is you are one of the lucky ones if this is the first time you have had a problem.

What can i say? They've been pretty consistent and reliable IMO but i also do know that these glitches sometimes happens so we just have to hope they find a solution to the problem. Good Luck and dont stress yourself too much over it. Have a good day.

two weeks ago we wen't down for six hours.

I can think of about 4 times it's been down in the last few months.

It's usually reliable, but some memebers have heaps of problems that I don't want to bugg the admins with, because I know they have a huge job on their hands.

but when we can't access the fourm, and we're resorting to making myspace and face book groups to substitute, it's just a little silly.

my uers log on EVERY DAY, and we have about 200 posts a day.

this is a HUGE inconvenience.

since this noon, we had a server problem. that's what it coses your forums down!
we had to change the deficient server by another powerfull one and we just finished this operation.

up to now, all your forums will back to normal in the few coming minutes.

sorry for the desagrement.

mine was back about ten mins ago, thanks folks was starting to get a little concerned there!

So forumotion now has a new server to replace the problem one? Our problems are over? THAT is wonderful new!
