hi random,

I am lucky in that i have a fantastic team and group of members, that i send business cards out to, leaflets and posters, and car stickers. i have also added my link to a lot of link exchange pages on other sites and have a specific member that spends her time doing this for me. Also i moved my forum from another server to here, so i had around 200 members to begin with that signed up. I promote everywhere i can, from the bottom of ebay selling to free ads, on free ads sites (they pull them sometimes, sometimes they dont) Members also have a banner that they place on their facebook, add the link to msn, bebo and so on. Finally i have used facebook advertising and google ad words, but neither were particularly that successful.

Oh and 24 is a good amount to have for a few weeks! See if you can work with them to get the name out about your forum!

Update:

We now have an additional forum for members children 7 and up! It is a whole new board just for kids and is only opened for an hour every few days, with moderators present through out and no private messaging. Its opening day was today with an introductions forum, chit chat, games, jokes and surveys and supporting each other forum and the children on there so far had a great time getting to know each other.

We have also arranged a big meet up in may, with a view to it becoming an annual occurance.

I have just seen your board and it's really nice.

Could you tell me please how you made "ANNOUNCEMENTS" on your board and next to it "Useful Links"?
And just one thing...New post icon on your board is actually link of the "View posts since last visit"...and you just put it there?

I have been admin to XML board, and there was a link of posts in last 24 hours...is it possible in php?

the code for the tables i have on my forum can be gotten from bigboardresources.com though i cant paste it as it is copyrighted without permission form the owner to paste anywhere else, sorry. The new post link i have is because the view new posts link only appears on the index page, where as in the nav bar it appears on every page, so saves time.

We now have a reputation system installed based on how much you contribute to the forum, and a new chat room, linked to in the nav bar. We also have a forum just for members children aged 7 and up, open at certain times and moderated fully during those times.
