Can anyone recommend a good page counter?
Hello everyone,
I only recently installed a counter on my portal and it's either doing something weird or it's doing something it's designed to do. Now the counter isn't showing up at all and it's only showing a link for some lawyer. It was a free counter from. www.speedcounter.com I found another free one on the net at, www.website-hit-counters.com but don't know if it will start doing this weird stuff too.
Anyone familiar with a good free counter that doesn't do these things?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Decibel...it's up and running on my portal.
By the way, do you have any idea why my old counter would have disappeared and then started to advertise for a mesothelioma lawyer? I copied the code exactly as it was given to me and the link to their free counters was still visible underneath. Just seems odd and when I clicked on the counters homepage link underneath, it brought up something else entirely than their free counter site or the lawyer site.

I've used Statcounter for the past 3 years and it works very well- I'm happy with it. I wouldn't use any other - it gives you tons of info- including what country everyone is visiting from
Re: Can anyone recommend a good page counter?
I recommend using BlogPatrol. They not only provide a counter, but you can also monitor your site activity.
NB: I do realize that the name is BlogPatrol, but you can also you it on your websites and forums, not only blogs.

Re: Can anyone recommend a good page counter?
Hello Decibel and everyone...
Decibel recommended a counter for me the other day and it was good and working fine. However, it's now not showing again. The counter itself has been replaced with the words, "Free Site Counter". What is going on? I had to modify the script a bit in order to center the counter on my page. Is this not allowed or the reason they stop working? If so, that is crappy...I want the counter centered on my portal and when I get the codes, they are not.
Does anyone know what is going on?

To center your code just use the <center> at teh begining & </center> at teh end.
I still say Statcounter is the best- check my site to see the link- it's up top. You can customize the color- and it's free. I like it because they send me an email with how many visitors have been in per week- including graphs. Very well worth it. But to each his own- By the way- it has NEVER went down on me!

Thank you, Data2Link.
I will sign up for statcounter then, looks good and so does your forum! I used the same basic skin for my forum too.
Thanks again for the assistance and recommendation.

Yep definately Statcounter. The free version is enough information and it does give quite a bit like somebody else has already mentioned.
