it is difficult for phpbb to make it strict. SMP Support that though even you may find couple of errors in that also.

I think this issue cannot be solved. Also seo has nothing to do with valid xhtml. Also firefox and IE has capability to solve this error so that it does appear on web page.

So i think there is anything necessary to be done by you.

He talks about THIS support forum.

According to the errors I saw, a half of them can be corrected without any problem, by the technicians : correction in the WYSIWYG editor to make it generate code with lowercase tag names and correctly closed image and line-break tags, correction of the navlinks and the onclick attribute (where there is javascript), adding the type="text/javascript" in the searchbox's script tag.

All phpbb or say forumotion forum's will have error but this has nothing to do with visibility or search engine optimization. But if the errors are corrected and is made valid xhtml then it is good but it does not affect anyone other then w3c validator. Usually only smp has error free forum (some time get 1 or 2 error though). So making xhtml valid will not have big effect on your forum. I think most of errors can be removed but some are hard hitted to remove. So complete error free forum seems not possible.
