I personally use The Gimp;
> It's free
> It's performant
> It's easy enough to use (once you get the hang of it Razz)

But however, it's a bit of a bummer that many tutorials for it on the web are simply adapted from Photoshop Pro :/

I used to use Paint Shop Pro 8 and Animation Shop. But I just upgraded to Paint Shop Pro X2 , Zinex. Oh it's so cool. I love it. You should check it out. There are new features added to this version but its pretty much functions just like the older versions, so its easy to figure it all out. Smile

I highly recommend it to anyone to play with. Cool

What extra thingy do you mean? There are lots of different versions out there. PSE, or photoshop elements, is a more user friendly version. It has the necessary controls, but not as much control, like I said just more user friendly. I think the newest version is PSE 6. Then there is the full version of PS, the latest version there is CS3. CS3 is actually attached to all the adobe creative suite, so all the products in that suite will end in CS3. I'm not sure if I answered your question, because I don't really know what you mean by thingy.

I personally use PS CS3 and LR(lightroom), also made by Adobe, for processing RAW images from my camera.

Yeah the basic version is Photoshop Elements. So the newest version of that is PSE 6.

Don't you love how people who diss things never explain why?

I've heard of Gimpshop and it's ressemblance to photoshop, but seen as I had never used it, I wasn't tempted to take the "look alike" version of The Gimp Smile

*For the side story; My sister and her friends are interested in photography at the moment, and needed a program to play around with.
One of them bought Photoshop while I got The Gimp for my sister...

Result: Her friend payed a year's worth pocket money for a program equivalent to what my sister has

To meditate on*

P.S: Free versions of payed programs are illegal, not smart Wink

Caihlem, so you say that Gimpshop and The Gimp are basically look alikes? I have never seen or used any, so I was just curious. Then I would hope that The Gimp is probably cheaper?

Hey has anyone noticed or used the new Image Editing features that is included online with your Photobucket account? Talking to someone who has worked with graphic programs, has told me that it has a lot of the same features as Photoshop. But again, I personally don't know since I have not used any graphics equipment before. With the exception of some online generators, which is nothing compared to the programs I am sure.

But just wondered if anyone has used it and what they think of it. If it's user friendly, fairly easy to use, and put out some good quality images?
