The Google Analytics feature is best. I'm still waiting for template edit for phpbb3 though.

Don't hold your breath. I would LOVE to be proven wrong, but if I read the license agreement correctly, forumotion would need to offer a "pure" phpBB3 board to make template editing possible. The forumotion phpBB3 board is a hybrid -- the profile area is Invision, the ACP is custom, and the WYSIWYG editor is vBulletin (yes...vBulletin!). Another sticking point is that forumotion uses a proprietary format for their skins.

I believe this is also the reason why you won't be seeing Invision template editing here anytime soon. I'm sure the hybrid board is the reason why there is no copyright on a forumotion Invision board...IPS probably insisted that forumotion remove it.

Besides...while template editing would make changing certain things simpler, anything you can do through template editing is already possible on a forumotion phpBB3 or Invision board.

Dion says it right, fm boards are not using regular phpbb2 wysiwyg editor or phpbb3. It's understandable cause normally phpbb3 have very simple bbcodes on its regular editor, but people can customize it with editor mods (like almsamim editor). By the way fm's editor is really nice and have many bbcodes which are normally not includes in standard phpbb3 boards. Like quickreply box... Fm'a quickreply editor is quiet popular and many people trying to get something like that as i read on their support forums. (normally phpbb3 boards don't have a quickreply coming with it, it's also a mod, they're trying to make it standard with 3.0.6 version)

What makes fm users greedy are fm stuff gives many mods with regular updates to them. So expectations are always so much, we have to remember that the simple things that we don't talk about here in fm are all specific mods and takes many to time to add in normal phpbb3 boards (like gallery mod, gender mod, skype mod, topic description, quickreply, multiquote, announcement box, birthday mod, etc.)

I feel like our direction in fm is based on orion/phpbb2 board's base with its great mods and mix with a style and mods of regular phpbb3... Coming to dion's hybrid theory again Wink

I am relatively happy with some of them but I am concerned about the way the Auto add to group is working on my forum? it seems to add members regardless of post count? and it has also added members as Admin? which is a worry, and then it added a completely new member called ANONYMOUS that doesn't exist to the Admin Group which is closed and not in the Auto add list, this matter is being looked at by Typlo and the techs so I will reserve judgment till I know what the problem is?

Thank you Hello

Thanks guys, not using too many of the new updates but the automatic re-sizing is great.
I get quite a lot of photos uploaded onto my site & there is always some wally who manages to post one way to large & stretch the forum.

Here's an update-related bug for forumotion to fix. Wildcards are no longer allowed in the IP Address ban area. This is a MAJOR issue for me because I was banning some proxy servers, and right now it's impossible to list all the individual IP addresses.

Thank you in advance for fixing this.

Oh, and here's another bug caused by the updates. The signature DOM on phpBB3 and Invision boards is broken. There's a workaround on phpBB3 boards by changing the signature classname in the CSS, but there's no CSS workaround for Invision boards. You know, between this and not being able to remove the AddThis button on phpBB3 and Invision boards, one might think forumotion is trying to get people to NOT use those boards...

I've private messaged Mr Mario what I would like to see in the new updates... ( He should forward it to Typlo soon )

Now, that am saying this, am sure others will, fufufu

So, Mr Mario, you know what to expect, Very good

Also, I hate update number 11, TT

11 - Personalization of time in minutes after which the member is considered "offline" : the admin can configure it according to their wishes in minutes (max. 60 minutes). If the user exceeds the time set by the admin without any action on the forum, he will be considered "offline".
Users & groups > Users options

We should be able to disable it, or it's just a bug that's causing the problems...

That's all I'll say in public. I've discussed this over with Mr Mario and Darren on the chatbox in the past, but, it was cleared, heehee...

Thanks for the feedbacks, the IP issue has been forwarded.

Regarding the signature DOM issue, can you give more technical details for the tech team? And maybe a before/after comparison.

Re: [Only-Topic] Share your thoughts about the new update!

Post by Dion on November 4th 2009, 11:56 am

Thanks for forwarding the IP address problem.

Here's some technical details about the signature problem. In both phpBB3 and IPB2/Invision, the signature block used to be defined as class="signature". Now, in phpBB3, it is class="signature_div", and in Invision, it is id="sigXXXX", where XXXX is the post number. It's now impossible on Invision boards to use CSS to add styles to the signature, because the ID is different for every post. The solution would be to change the class name back to "signature" on phpBB3 boards, and add the "signature" class name back on IPB2/Invision boards.

Thanks in advance for fixing this.

Thanks for the feedbacks, the IP issue has been forwarded.

It appears the techs have fixed half the problem. One can now use a wildcard in the last block of IP addresses, such as 150.151.152.*, but using two wildcards, such as 150.151.*.*, is still broken.

Even though it bans approximately 5,000 valid IP addresses, I had an IP ban of the form 150.151.*.* in place to ban the other 60,000 IP addresses from a large proxy server site. I would prefer to have that ban in place as opposed to writing over 200 individual IP ban statements -- which may not even be supported since I don't know how many IP address ban statements we can have.

Thank you in advance for fixing this.

Thank you for adding a class name to the signature block!

To all those who have written CSS for their phpBB3 or Invision boards: if you have any style rules in place for signatures, you'll need to change .signature to .signature_div and the signature CSS will work again.

Hi Dion,

Thanks for letting us know about the wildcards and the problems still with banning heavy duty proxy servers. Hopefully this "glitch" will be fixed as well because I can definitely see where you're coming from and we need better control over banning services like this more efficiently! Again, if the choice and ability was there previously, then I don't see any reason why it should have been changed or removed. Please, techs, put back what we already had and don't take away functions we USED to have already before! Sad Listen to member (Dion), not only is this person a whiz with all sorts of things, but he brings up very valid and notable points!!!

Thanks. Very Happy

Typlo, ive got a question about the google analytics.

Was it just the code added into the overall_footer, or was there something else added into aspecs that we cannot gain access to?

'Cause I got the feeling it was just the templates, which would of aloud us users to do it before the update had came out.
