Why did you create a forum?

First topic message reminder :

I am not asking why you chose Forumotion to create a forum, but the reason why you decided to create an online community.

I created my forum because I was looking for something for my blog. I decided a forum would be a good asset to have, so I created one. A while after creating it, it failed, as did the blog. So I deleted the forum and the blog and thought I would focus on just one thing. So I did. I created my new forum, MediaMania. I don't know why I went with a Media forum, but I did and I love it.

i started a animie forum like a freind of mine who owns somewhat of a higher type of forum i never thought id make a forum cause the only one i knew was v bulletin and to much for my pay =p but i thought id start my own commuinity and hope that it will be populer but i have one v bulliton that i never go on im the founder of xat and thats were my v bulliten is and i thought id make a free forum for a fresh start Very Happy

I began my freebie site because I want to help others find such goodies. I am really having fun with this. Forumotion is very easy to manage, so I have started another site.

First step: goto admin/content management/contenttypes and create a new content type - let's call it "Ask a Question" (in the 'name field') and then in the "machine-readable field name" put something simple but unique, like "questions" (this may show up in your address bar depending on your configuration, so that's a nice little bonus)

Important step: in the "Submission Form Settings" give the "Title" field a catchy title like "Your Question" - note: this field can hold roughly 30-40 words, an important element in this "Yahoo Answers style site" we're building (on my site, that field is actually called, "Your question - don't worry, this little field can hold about 30+ words" - because it appears to all users, seems silly, but whatever, it works)

I created a forum because I really like James Bond I saw all the other Bond Forums and wanted to be like them so created one and this is where I am today. Smile

I created a forum, because I love to make more friends by learning and sharing my favorite game, music and video websites with them.

I'm also hoping that my forum is going to grow a big friend network and will make everyone work together as one whole community.

Why did I create a forum? Well, a long, long time ago, I was addicted to this game called Free Rider 2. Well, I saw a few other forums for that game, and it seemed fun to control/manage one; so I took a shot at it. Over 2 years ago, I made my first forum, and then I made more and more. Now, I'm only stuck with one; and some I'm still giving away. Anyway, creating forums is a fun and addicting responsibility.

Hello.

I am new here and I'm still getting use to things here. I was surfing the forums and came across this one and decided to reply. ^_^

I actually came across this place when I was doing a search of where I could create a group. I use to have my group Anime Fan Madness at MSN groups, but since they have shut down, I have been on the search for a new home for my group. I had my site at MSN for about 6 years and I really wanted to keep it going as i have a huge love for Anime and everything about it and love meeting others who love anime as well. So, after searching for a long while, I did a search on google of how I could create a group and this place popped up. So, I checked things out, liked it and have decided to give it a try. So, I created my forum here, because I love anime and want to meet others who love it as well.

I am totally infatuated with Japanese singer, Tatsuya Ueda. For ages, I could not find a forum solely dedicated to him. So I decided to make my own! There's not a lo of member yet, but I'm working hard to get them [I hope].

My forum is all about protecting the rights of artists..and educating users of paint shop pro and other graphic program users..We keep members up-to-date with TOU changes...artist news...we ID images that members want to use but aren't sure if they are allowed...We were on MSN for 4 years until they closed then we moved to forumotion.

We also run competitions...artist chats and basic fun...

I originally started it when i was going thru Chemo for Breast Cancer...i was bored and copyright awareness was only new to the tagging community...I wanted a group where people could go to learn and not be scared to ask silly questions.

What a great thread...you all have so many different reasons for starting your forums...i checked out a few of the forums mentioned and wow...you are all doing a wonderful job on them What a Face

I wanted to create a place where the knowledge and experiences and knowledge of people in the Fire and EMS fields could be shared and maybe benefit our careers. Possibly even save lives.

I wanted to create this Star Wars RPG forum because I find Star Wars RPing really fun. I've tried other RPG's that are forum based, like Harry Potter, but I didn't enjoy that as much as I enjoy Star Wars RP. Very Happy

I created my forum becasue i wanted something to do with some friends from another forum, and the only idea i had for a forum was anime and manga, so i based the entire forum on the anime Tsubasa Reservoir Chonicles and a friend helped think of some names and other ideas and then, The Cat's Eye was born... Very Happy

I created a forum because I was sick of all these other 'ladies/moms' only forums that were board nazi's. Always trying to censor what people say and believe. And also, because I wanted to make genuine online friends, which I have. Half of my forum gals I text & call on a daily basis.

I am back with Marie 1988 because I simply do not have time for advanced hosting at the moment, and owning a forum is a hobby I simply enjoy doing. I don't know, I just like running forums, but I don't like the idea of advanced hosting. Marie 1988 is still in the works, however.

I at first created one for people to discuss my company. Then when my company ended, I still had the forum. Now I use the forum for general. It's a place to be with friends, hangout, it's a place to go to when people are bored.

First I was bored, had some free time and some artist/anger energy within specific interests. Then I got invited to help with another person's forum, and then I got more bored, and created a seperate one on my own as an experiment. The experiment didn't come with down-to-earth-pure -thoughts-of "I want to help," or "I want to meet people." It was mainly because I was curious, and to see how many members you can get in how much time, and just to pass the time. It didn't matter to me before if the forums got big or died. ouou
