Why did you create a forum?
First topic message reminder :
I am not asking why you chose Forumotion to create a forum, but the reason why you decided to create an online community.
I created my forum because I was looking for something for my blog. I decided a forum would be a good asset to have, so I created one. A while after creating it, it failed, as did the blog. So I deleted the forum and the blog and thought I would focus on just one thing. So I did. I created my new forum, MediaMania. I don't know why I went with a Media forum, but I did and I love it.

Re: Why did you create a forum?
I made my gorum because I was really bored and the forums I was in were slowing down. The funny thing is that my forum isnt really going anywhere with 19 members. Anyway I keep on trying to make it grow.

Re: Why did you create a forum?
I was a member of a site called FakersBusted, which was being redone so I decided to make my own forum based on the same idea. At first it was just something to keep me occupied whilst FakersBusted was down, but I developed some new ideas and now I'm trying to get it fully running as a site
Re: Why did you create a forum?
I'm a huge fan of the Mario Games, so I decided to make a forum dedicated to the games and shows and stuff, and share my Mario experiences and tips.
It's not the best forum, with only 31 members of which most of are inactive. But it's getting better and more popular by the minute, because I recently added my site to Google and when I type in 'Super Mario Forum', it's on the 1st page.

Re: Why did you create a forum?
I Made a forum, well my first, as a try out, and it failed, because it was my first try. Ive kind of given up on running my own forum, so now i create test forums to work on stuff for the forums I admin. Ive tried many hosts, even server hosts, with MYSQL. So far, most free servers, fail. There are exceptions. So really, all ive done is testing.
Who knows, i may make a forum that ill stick by later on

Re: Why did you create a forum?
I created a forum because I wanted to start a fansite for an online game, and the most successful ones have forums.
Re: Why did you create a forum?
wow nice stories all of them,
Well we created forums coz, we 4 frenz meet on a forum ( more of a circus than a forum)
but things were not up to the mark there with any new comer coming n abusing seniors and that sor of things.
so we all left that site n after some times created a forum here.
lol we didnt had any experience before that
any ways here we are running the show quite cooly now

Wow, I'm going to register to your forum, Narutofanforums!
Anyway, I created TopNintendo so people can talk about Nintendo and challenge people to battles! However, it isn't doing so well!

Re: Why did you create a forum?
I created a forum, because I wanted to create a forum game. I saw another game almost identical to mine before I made a forum, but the rules said you can't play without Admin while Admin didn't visit that forum, so I made my own with other rules that allow playing without any Administrator or even Moderator.

Never give up, and you'll have a great forum eventually,
Just have good content, and people will come lurking in your forum and soon,it will become very popular. Also, it's very wise to create test forums, just to get the experience,

More like dicuss your games you created?
Last time I recall, people create websites to attract people's eyes with their content, then use forums to discuss about it,

That's a great reason,

When you create a forum, it's empty to begin with,
Very suspicious... Your hiding something, aren't you?

That was a great idea, but if it was me, I would have left due to admin inactivity if the forum games revolves around admin.

No, not really. It was about some game, although that game's closing so I removed the section for that, it's just completely random now.
Re: Why did you create a forum?
To answer the OP Title, I started mine to give members of another site a place to "Get Away" I guess. To take a break from time to time from the site's M.O. on moderation. Long story short, I guess my major motivation was not only my own personal dislike of this particular forum's Moderation Technique, (I don't participate in many) and the expressions of disdain from fellow members I've known for quite some time.
Re: Why did you create a forum?
I created my forum because i was a member on a different one, and the members had loads of requests for the Admin, but he just wasn't interested and was very inactive.
So i created my own for them, different but still catered for the same members and more

Re: Why did you create a forum?
I wanted to have a forum, I never knew that there was other forums. When I was a newbie, I thought the forum I always went to was the only forum that there ever was. I really like Forumotion, I wish that all of my friends went to my forum, which is why I am going to tell my friends about my forum.
Re: Why did you create a forum?
tired of tweets and short messages. i wanted to offer additional choices for people to connect with others online
Re: Why did you create a forum?
My first forum was just to talk for fun.
Now its to provide support to my members when they have trouble with any of my games and for updates and announcements

Re: Why did you create a forum?
Master Tarc, you never did write why you made a forum..... either that or I must have missed it...
As for me, I create forums mainly because I am an aspiring game designer and wanting to specialize in creating battle systems for fantasy RPGs. Its quite fun but if no one else shares my passion, its a downer....
I was in this big Naruto forum, one with a battle system, and I got awed by its battle system. And so, I joined a new one[a bleach one] who creates a battle system similar to it, got reprimanded and I talked to the one who created the battle system for the big Naruto forum I was in, who was my friend, and was awed that he was actually a game design student! I was awed by his works and am trying to follow his footsteps... By now, he is just waiting for his applications to be replied to.... He's trying to find a job at some famous game companys....
Anywayz, yeah, I wanted to created a forum based RPG with a battle system, unique monsters[although I have to find graphic artists for that, which I still haven't], unique weapons, items and armour, as well as plot, storyline, chapters, and missions....
I just luv creating those kind of forums...[sorry for babbling...]

Re: Why did you create a forum?
3 reasons :
1. I was unsatisfied how incomplete and unprofessional tutorials people make. I have decided to fix that by making my own.
2. My memory is bad. I have started a forum as an archive of tutorials for myself.
3. I wanted to help people resolve some of their computer problems.

Re: Why did you create a forum?
When I heard this, i went ahead made a forum, just took me 75 seconds to complete the form, (one failure, password got wrong but got another) and now I am still working on my forum.
Re: Why did you create a forum?
Because I had been to other A/V forums in the UK (eg. about TV/HDTV, Blu-ray/DVD, etc.) but they were very limited compared to other forums, eg. those aimed at the USA. eg. on one I visited, you couldn't add a poll thread at all, and on another, you had a very, very short time to add the options to a poll thread, and if you went over that time, it wouldn't let you have any poll in the thread at all - which was a bit bad when the whole point of the thread was for a poll and you got left with just a thread with no poll. Also as well as the very bad functionality, I thought the UK ones weren't very well laid out/structured. With my own forum I could make the structure and options/functionality how I wanted.
Also, while some of the A/V forums aimed at the USA were better in functionality than the UK ones, they were aimed at the USA and not for the UK/Europe. They were also very limited in what you could talk about (eg. you could talk about one high def media format but not any others or ones that could possibly replace it at some point in the future). So I decided to create the best A/V site especially for the UK (and Europe too) but also have a few sections for the USA too, and it will not be biased towards any one A/V format (eg. Blu-ray/digital downloads/other HD or SD formats).
It also showed me how forums are created and work. Though I really need a lot more members really.

Re: Why did you create a forum?
Ooops .. I think I answered this under another post...
I created my first forum here to connect my classmates, teachers, boosters and friends in a free, simple way so that we could remain in contact ... to make supporting each other during the tough times, telling stories and reminiscing about the old days, and even making event planning much, much easier.
I plan to create similar forums for my businesses... one for service related questions and solutions, and one for ideas and feedback. Really looking forward to learning more about this whole process. I've told all my members and prospects that they are guinea pigs in this learning curve.
Note to mamabear... here in southeast US, and most generally any small town USA, you will find similar farming communities... some are co-op and some are family owned... Very glad to see others taking responsibility for their own lives and working together for good.
