Cannot change anything on the layout with basic colors...

The only thing i have been able to change layout wise is add a banner and change the background by adding the url in the css codes but i can't make heads or tales of the colors in the css. The color codes don't exsist and using the basic colors page i can change the codes by choosing a color but it doesn't affect the actual layout. I'm so frustrated. Please help

Same here, I can't change the colors at all and I'm using the PhpBB3
