Forum automatically removing "\" (Slashes)

Post by Doctor Inferno on October 22nd 2009, 6:09 am

My forum keeps removing slashes from posts. For example when I post a file directory:

D:\Completed Downloads\file.exe

It will remove the slashes and appear as:

D:Completed Downloadsfile.exe

well thats odd.
every once in a wile when i edit a post more then once here or even on my forums it will automatically put them in there.. i don't know why it's been happening on and off.
even if i quote someone the wrong way and i go back to fix it and then thats when it usually happens.

but i have never seen or heard of it taking them away? so i dunno i guess it;s just a freak mishap that will happen once in a wile.. it has to be something with phpbb boards. because thats the only boards i ever seen it happen on.

when this happens again. instead of me fixing and taking them out.
i will leave it there and point it out. it is strange, don't happen that often but dose happen time to time.
oh oh just to be more specific. it only adds the the forward / where ever there would be apostrophe's ' or commas , so yeah very odd and very strange.. but once again i never seen it take them out?

My forum uses the slashes very often for scripts to fix virus or spyware issues and this bug usually messes up the posts. Sometimes even after editing it back it will disappear again.

Can this be moved to the tech forum?

Doing this will let you type in things that would normally be changed by the software, like this.

i believe only the administrators can move topics to the tech boards.
You will have to pm luky and he will have to make the decisions on whether this is even an issue to request to the techs?
