Help us : Spelling/Grammar/Structure Errors in ENGLISH

Post by Cornelia on September 26th 2007, 4:45 pm

First topic message reminder :

For all members, especially the ones for whom English is their first language.

Even if a blitz of corrections has been done in the English language files lately, there might be still some errors left. That's why I seek your help in order to finish these corrections.

To report an error

  1. Post the word or the sentence where you see an error
  2. Give the correction you suggest
  3. Give the location of this error (ex : In the admin panel > Modules > Portal Structure > "Adding of existing modules") It is advised to provide a screenshot of this. If you don't know how to take a screenshot, look here

We ask you to not post an error report if the error is one of these followings :

  1. Having "Parcourir" when you upload a file/picture, and "Envoyer" when you use the founder's utils. In these two cases, this comes from your browser's language. So, if your browser is in French, these buttons will be in French. If your browser is in English, the buttons will be in English.
  2. Buttons (nav links or messages buttons) in French such as "Citer", "profil", "mp", etc. If they are in French, try to add _en before the .gif, or try to reinstall this styles in Styles > Choose your styles. If it doesn't work, this means the style isn't translated to English yet.

Thanks for your collaboration.

Errors in Forum rules

Post by brdfrd on January 15th 2009, 11:51 am

Original copy:

Grammar in Auto-reply message

Post by DavidHughesCoopers on February 9th 2009, 7:44 am

Hello,

When a user joins our forum, they receive a welcome message containing their user name and password. Sadly, the grammar in this message is incorrect:

1. "Please keep this email for your savebox. Your account informations are as follow:"

Should be "Your account information is as follows:"

2. "Your account is currently inactive, the administrator of the board will need to activate it before you can log in. You will receive another email when this has will be done."

Should read "when this has been done."

Please can you fix this for us?

Thanks

I wrote this some time ago and I am curious as to why it isn't used?
I spent over 3 hours on it and accessed many legal books and legal websites to ensure it was legally binding which the present one isn't.
I've edited it further to make even more sense.
Even though I left this site due to personal differences with a staff member and was banned the day after I left I still give full permission for it to be used.

OK, another mistake Sad

Admin panel >> General > messages and emails/configuration

It currently shows
Code:
Activate the WYSIWYG mod by default in the posts

It should say
Code:
Activate the WYSIWYG mode by default in the posts

so it just needs another E after WYSIWYG mod by default

Well, I would like to correct 2 things -

1) When we see any other member's profile, It says "See all your friends" Instead of "See all username friends" OR "See all Friends"

2) Second mistake I'd like to bring to notice is that, When we use chat box and log in it, Its says "Username has joined the chat the Thu 4 may" Instead of Username has joined the chat on Thu 4 may"

Support team, Please try to correct both the mistakes soon because they look very bad and comes in any ones notice easily.Thanks. Smile

If you post informations who come from another site

"informations who come" should be "information which come"
