Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
Hi, your title being non explicit and therefore not facilitating research via the search option, I'm not answering (nor is any other member
) until you change your title for an explicit one, related to your problem

Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
That's better. Now to change the Width of your forum go to admin panel=>Styles=>Pictures & Colors=>Colors. There look for the following box "Forum width (number or %)" and set your desired forum width.

Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
I know how to change the width of the forum itself by going to admin/colors, but i need to know how to change the width of the actual posts. they are so wide, it's hard to read without scrolling to the right.
How do i change the width of the posts?
this is normal:
www.hogwartsekspresi.com
but, when you open a topic;
http://www.hogwartsekspresi.com/karanlyk-sanatlara-kary-savunma-derslioi-f67/sezonun-ilk-dersi-1-2-ve-3-synyflar-icin-ortak-t2184.htm#115109
thanks!

Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
it looks fine to me. But if it is wide after setting the width of your forum in admin, then make sure there are not some over large signatures

Bold and Color are reserved for moderation, like this, so please keep to the default font

Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
the forum appears as it should to me, see the screenshot below.
sometimes, after posting for example, it could happen that the page gets incredibly expanded to the side, but normally that can be fixed with a simple reload of the page.
EDIT: i see now that i cropped that screenshot horribly, but there really were no extremely wide posts.

Your forum appears ok to me, maybe you use a low screen resolution and so your internet browser's pages are displayed wider.

Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
amortantia are you missing the posts on this thread? a good few have checked your forum and its fine to us! We are not joking you! this means it is most likely either from having signature or having a low resolution computer neither of which forumotion can fix.
this is what i see click it:
that is not too wide and thats clicking the link you just posted.

Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
yes, it is not too wide and it is the width that i want; but when we click it (i and the members) it seems too wide to us and we can't read the articles without scrolling to the right, and believe that the problem's source isn't our computers, cause we see some topics wide, some topics narrow... and in these wide topics, there aren't any big signatures.
i am sorry for keeping busy but i need someone to help me...
thanks again.

Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
Hey, I'm from the same forum and she's surely not lying or trying to make fun of you!
now most of the topics are extremely wide(so you have to scroll to right) and i know that it's not because of the screen (in fact my screen is 17' and the resolution is 1280x1024) so please tell me how can the reason be my screen or amortantia's screen?
i still don't get why yours look fine?
i'd be very very happy if somebody could help us. please?

Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
yeah there's no background width changer. that's the main problem.
Anyway, i logged out and the width was normal. So you have to be a member and log in to see the problem. if you're not logged in it'll seem normal to you, too...
see, that's our situation, see the scroll bar? it was even wider at first, still too wide by now:
to see the whole photo: http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k118/white_elwing/adsz-3.jpg

Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
Hm... do you have custom CSS written in the textbox in "Stlyes/Colors/CSS Stylesheet"?
If yes, could you post the content? (if you dont want to do in public, send me a pm)

Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
Well, I really don't know if this would help in your case, but try to put a percentage value into the forum width in (Styles / Colors), instead of a fixed pixel value. For example set it to 80%. It's important that you also add the "%" at the end of the value!

Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
hello,
seem you got strange problem there. but for this one i agreed Sunny_D, sometimes large picture can cause that problem, and even weirder is its only happen in some part of you forum,
so i comes with this conclusion, i think maybe there is one member on you forum that carry ultra large sig, so where ever he/she post, you forum width will automatically re-size to apply with that user sig,
so here is solution, go to you forum page that got this width problem and find any member that carry ultra large sig on that page only & ask them to remove it (or remove it by yourself) for a while, see if its work.
ps: i just go to your forum a while ago and in that weird page, i notice there is one user carry so large sig, try check 'Cassandra I. Miller' user name on you forum
,
its just my opinion tho,
adiex

Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
Hımm... What shall I do to explain you that the problem's source isn't a big sig?
For example; a member see the forum normal; but I am not. (same forum.) Or, a member see the forum normal and when I did her a moderator; she started to see the forum wide.
If I log out; I see every forums normal; (i want this size...) but when i log in; I see all the forums wide!
Why? Nobody know the problem or its source; and we have lived with this problem for a long time. Are there anyone that can help us???

Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
ohh, please...
it's been months with this problem. So don't tell me it MAY be a large sign, or a large photo. Coz it's not that. My first idead was it, too, so i had looked for it already. And it's NOT a large photo etc.
I couldn't find any coding mistake, too. I keep thinking that, if it's not because of our administration, so what? what's wrong with it?

Re: Question About The Width Of The Forum
Moving to Techs
Quick note to techs: In summary it appears that the problem of the forum width being too large only appears once a person is logged in, as a registered member. If they log out and appear as a guest, they can see the screen sized appropriately.
They are also experiencing the same problems with the dates, causing problems with registration due to the dates being off. So when people put in their date of birth at registration it doesn't recognize it properly. Which is being addressed in another thread here in the techs.
I just thought I should mention that, in case there could be some kind of connection, altho I highly doubt they are connected.
