Does anyone know of this?

On my site, I have members telling me they're able to give rep and post in the Admin/Mod notes section in profiles.

Vince (one of my fellow Admins) and I have double-checked the settings, all leading to A-OK!

Does anyone know about this?

I was going to post this in the technician area, but it says only Admins can make sections there?

Well I think they are feeding you a line. I just went into your forum, and you know that I am just a member, and I cannot see Admin/Mod Notes in anyone's profiles, nor can I have access to your admin panel, or see any way to give rep.

Ask them to post in some particular persons profile admin/mod notes box, or to tell u what they are reading in someone's box, to prove it. And where they are able to give rep and how.

If in Fact they Can- Do you have any idea about going about a way to fix the problem?
(Because from what I know the Settings for the Rep Bar are for Administrators to Change only & that the Moderator & Administrator Comments settings can not be changed)

Just a Thought- a Few of Our Members Have Moderator Rights in 1 Forum, even though they are not actual Members of the Moderator Group.

Would that in any way Explain why they could post in the Moderator Comments?
(Since they have the Rights in 1 forum?)

I'm still Confused though how they would be able to Change Repuations Bars (if they really can)

as for reps...I don't personally have them, so I have not had experience with adding to them, but from what I have understood, they have to be adjusted individually thru the profiles of the members thru the admin panel, correct? If that is the case and they are able to adjust the reps, then that means they have admin rights and have access to the admin panel somehow.

admin has rights to everything on the forum, mods cannont access the admin panel, which admins can, and your setting to adjust the reps u have setup is for admins and mods.. you really should only have 1 mod unless you really trust the others, since they have as much rights as you and can take you off (owner of the forum to begin with) from being an admin and take of pretty much and change everything you got going, etc..

I agree with tyhodge here about having limited amounts of staff.

It has always been adviced that you only have one admin, which is the forum founder, and maybe one mod until you have at least 100 members.

I know you guys very much exceed that in your forum. I know you guys are just a couple of many admins in your new forum, which neither of you are the forum founder of. So it is possible that someone is making changes that the others are not aware of. It happens all the time, especially when you have so many admins.

no, regular members dont have access to the admin panel only admins do,thats why its called, admin panel, lol.. the scary thought is, there 4 admins, there should really only be one, and thats the main forum creator owner etc.. the rest should be mods, which restricts them from the admin panel mods can still do as much as an admin, but doesnt get the rights to the admin panel

I know that they are not Suppost to have Access.


Skittles- Do you know how I would check to see if the member has Moderator Privelages?
(because they are not members of the Moderator Group Technically- but are getting the powers From somewere else I guess?)

tyhodge- We do have Moderators on out Forum but We have 3 Admins (4th is a backup account in case we get hacked) is because we each can't be on as much time as we might like to and because we all Run the forum so we need access to the Pahel.

But the Member in question who said they can edit comments is not Part of Any Group that Has Moderating Powers--- They are only Part of the "Traders!" Group Now which has No Moderating Privelages anywhere in the Forum

Then I suggest he prove it to you. As tyhodge mentioned, a regular member cannot gain access. When I mentioned if someone IS, it would have had to be by a way of a hack or something like that. But believe me, if you were hacked you would have known it. Because they would have booted you guys out and gained total control.

If I remember reading correctly, there were a couple of mods or staff members who were recently banned? Is it possible they made some changes?

One Staff Member was Banned (IP Address was Banned too)
The changes were not there when they Were banned so it happened later.

I just need to wait for a responce from the member and to see if they really do have the Ability to see the Notes & Reps and change them.

wait for his response, if he/she says they can, tell them to change your right than, and u can see if it changes.. if theres an excuse why he/she wont, than more than likely they cant, if they do, just check their privlidhes and or just remove them from the special rank their in as of now and see if they still can.
