Forum Directory Problem

Post by SonnyGovan on November 6th 2009, 12:43 pm

Firstly i am not the site owner, but i am the person who looks after the admin of the site.

I have admin rites to the site and for about a week and a half I have been trying to move us from the original directory category to a new directory category. I have done the select category option and had a message box appear telling me that the movement will take some hours to complete but we still haven't moved. I have had this message on the 3 occasions I have tried this but we haven't moved to new directory listing. I also started a new sub category called fifa 10 and there is now 32 sites in this category and we're not in it.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

the site is 161182.friendhood.net
the current category is sports and hobbies\collective sports\football\clubs and supporters
the category we want to be in is Games\Video Games\Sport\fifa 10

thanks for your help on this

it sounds that you have done everthing correctly.
after you save the changes and hit ok you should see it appears in your list.
I am not sure of this. but it might be only the owner can change the forums directories.. there are some options only the forums founder/owner can change or edit.

thanks for your reply

yes on the list it shows were in the category we want but our forum is still in the old category. It lets me change the directory on the admin page listing and it shows on there that were in new category but our forum is still in old category. It also lets me create a sub category, which i done and that shows too but alas still nothing has changed.

Is there any other way of achieving the movement without the site owner doing it as he doesn't understand much about any of this admin stuff.

anymore help on this would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I happen to have the very same problem (been waiting for over a week to have my forum moved to the new category and new subcategory but although I got the same message that it will be moved in a few hours nothing has happened) and since I'm the forum founder the problem has to be something else than not being the founder/owner. Is there any news on this?

Thanks.

Right here is some additional info:

My forum is here: http://19thcenturywbts.forumotion.com
The current category is "Nature and Escape" -> "Travels"
But I wanted it moved to "Roleplay forums" -> "Historical" and the new subcategory "19th Century"

As mentioned I've "changed" it about 2 weeks ago and got the "will be moved in a few hours" message but no movement was done because it is still listed in the prior forums directory.

Is it a bug?

Thanks.

cheers for the info above dude, well at least we know its not an site owner problem, so is there a way to make it happen without using the buttons within the admin panel, can we not get moved into correct category by the Forumotion admin ??

Is this a bug and is it getting looked at ??

Any more help with this would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I have tried to switch categories several times over the last couple months and I also get the message that it will be moved in a few hours and it still hasn't been moved.

Yeah - I have tried to move my forum several times already during the past weeks - always got the message it that it will be moved within a few hours - but nothing has been moved and the subcategory I wanted to put the forum into hasn't been opened either...

Could one of the moderators/admins give us any clue if that is a bug or some kind of glitch? I'd really appreciate it if we could get any answer or better some form of solution to this persistent problem.

Thank you.

OK the word i got from typlo is that the techs are looking into this.
There is no telling at this time how long it will take to fix or resolve the problem but they are aware of this and is being looked into.

All typlo can do on his end is delete yous from the forums directory.
I am waiting for a reply to find out if yous where deleted from the directory, if you can then go back and add yourselves into the directory and appropriate category this time?

As soon as i hear more it will be posted.
thanks
