Forum Header Issue.

Post by Deathspawn on Wed 04 Nov 2009, 11:58 pm

I decided to help a friend with his forum and I noticed on the first page, it said Free Forum: [Whatever he wrote.]. On my old one and some others, Free Forum is not there. Is this just put there for newly registered accounts, or is there some way to remove it? If so, then how?

By the way, his forum is http://reallifeformorons.forumotion.com/

Admin Panel>>General Tab>>Configuration>>You will see forums names and description>> The Free Forum should be there>>Remove it>>Save

Yes it's there when the forum is made.

I dont see nothing in the header. do you mean the links in the forum footer?
these would have to stay.
Make a forum | © phpBB | Free forum support | Free forums]

if you wanted to remove the others you can but not the ones above. if you where to remove the ones above you can lose your forum. it is forumotions policy that they have to stay.

you would most likely want to keep report abuse as well. only because if something was reported there it would go to the forums administrators so they can take care of any complaints and forumotion would not have to come in and deal with it.

Tried to go there, and there is no Free Forum: at the beginning. Just this:

The main page still has Free forum at the top. (Like on here.)

The part circled in red is the part I am trying to get to go away. It will not go away when I edit the description/title.

oh that thangy..
oh I'm going to try to see if i can find .

this is something thats not in your forums appearance?
this is something thats on your computer. i guess it comes up like that to let you know it's a free forum.
i am using IE 7 and that dose not appear anywhere for me when going to your link.

Edit info added

oh i see thats part of the forums favicon it shows up in my google/IE tab the same way. i dont think there is a way to take this out. it's just telling you it's a free forum.

try deleteing the favicon link thats in there it see if that dose it.
i did that on one of my forums and i dont see it comming up now.

not sure dose the free forum thing show on yours?

Nope, I just get index. I even tried it on my old forum and I only see Bluenet. For now, I found a temporary fix and just added in a time script to display up there. (Which actually makes it look a lot better.) Only problem is scripts don't work on forum descriptions, so I have to use the homepage message.

Edit: I am not marking this as solved, since the main issue hasn't been solved. Hopefully someone has a fix for it, or maybe Typlo added it in somewhere. I will mark it solved when someone does come up with a solution to it.

ok that sounds good.
i ran out of suggestions or ideas at this point. ROTFL.. wtf!!! Razz

for all i know it's probably something simple and staring us right in the face? lol
but i will pass this on to my colleagues as well to see if they know. it's strange that it dose not show up in mine but dose in yours. so thats telling me there has to be a way to rid it?

what version are you using? i will try on my test forum with the same version and see if there's any difference. it might be a firefox thing? but if that was the case then you would see it on mine. so that takes that out of the equation

Version is phpbb2. And the theme is a hitskin theme. (The only thing done to it was a little edit on the CSS to make the theme width 100%) I was looking through the forums directory and did notice that a couple of other forums had it, and I was thinking that it was a new account thing, but I noticed one that had an admin post from February, and my Bluenet forum was made in July.

ok well i am also using phpbb2.. it's possible that it's a skin thing?
i dont know. see i always use just the basic skin and customize everything my self.
so i mean thats sub-silver i usually go with and is an older skin.. so it can be possible that it is a skin thing..

if you have the link to your skin post it here and i will test that on my test forum to see. so i'll try it if you have the link to the skin you are useing.

http://en.hitskin.com/search-a-skin/stylize-darkgrey-en-129813.htm

The only edit I have done is to the CSS code, and this is the full CSS code:

Code:
.bodylinewidth {
width:100%}

(Yea, it didn't have any CSS code... kinda sad.)
