Help us : Spelling/Grammar/Structure Errors in ENGLISH

Post by Cornelia on September 26th 2007, 4:45 pm

First topic message reminder :

For all members, especially the ones for whom English is their first language.

Even if a blitz of corrections has been done in the English language files lately, there might be still some errors left. That's why I seek your help in order to finish these corrections.

To report an error

  1. Post the word or the sentence where you see an error
  2. Give the correction you suggest
  3. Give the location of this error (ex : In the admin panel > Modules > Portal Structure > "Adding of existing modules") It is advised to provide a screenshot of this. If you don't know how to take a screenshot, look here

We ask you to not post an error report if the error is one of these followings :

  1. Having "Parcourir" when you upload a file/picture, and "Envoyer" when you use the founder's utils. In these two cases, this comes from your browser's language. So, if your browser is in French, these buttons will be in French. If your browser is in English, the buttons will be in English.
  2. Buttons (nav links or messages buttons) in French such as "Citer", "profil", "mp", etc. If they are in French, try to add _en before the .gif, or try to reinstall this styles in Styles > Choose your styles. If it doesn't work, this means the style isn't translated to English yet.

Thanks for your collaboration.

The feature that makes a message appear if someone has posted a message at the same time as you reads:

"A new message has just been added while you write it your.
You can consult the last messages posted below and thus to decide if you want to modify it or to record it."

It should say:

"A new message has been posted while you wrote your response. Please review the new message posted below and decide if you want to modify your response or continue posting as written."

The contact form - when someone sends a message on the site contact form, after clicking send it says:

"Your message has been sent, it will be read briefly".

It should say:
"Your message has been sent, it will be read promptly".

As briefly sounds rather abrupt!

Admin panel >> Display ( Tab ) >> Generalities > Additional tags > > The 2 line block of text, first two words in bold.

It says "Tags meta" where it should say "Meta tags"

ACP > Display > Homepage > Headers & Navigation > Page headers

It should be:

With the new update came a feature that allows us to select who can view images and links within the forum permission controls.

However, if I set images to members only, when I try to view the images as a guest it says "You must be registered and logged in to view this link".

Obviously it should say "image" instead of link.

Poor grammar
Admin panel >> Display ( Tab ) > Temporary themes >
The text says
This section allows you to create and modify your temporary theme and thus to test their appearance without modifying the forum one directly.
You can create 3 temporary theme maximum.

Where as it should say to be better in grammar:

This section allows you to create and modify your temporary theme and thus to test their appearance without modifying the forum one directly.
You can create a maximum of 3 temporary themes

Thanks for the corrections you've passed on Typlo Smile

EDIT:
Also noticed Admin panel >> Display ( Tab ) > Structure and hierarchy

The informations below will allow you to customize topics and categories hierarchy on forum homepage.

It should be
