I cant redirect email?

Hi I am having trouble redirecting my email? when I try to redirect it I get this message

Error

The email address can only contain alphanumerical characters and : & . - _ +

I am trying to redirect from Admin@mybulgariaportal to mybulgariaportal@gmail.com

Have you tried redirecting to another free service provider such as Hotmail, or Yahoo?

I wanted to redirect to gmail... i always get an odd "this email is already in use" error message

Try doing it without a capital letter ie :
admin@mybulgariaportal

That may work Smile

The email address I chose is not in use, I also tried several others but got the same message even though they are not in use with my forum ?

Yeah.. you can't have two of the same names (admin).
You've got one for normal mailbox and one for a redirection.
You will have to choose between them.

Hi Not sure what you mean here ? I do have 2 email addresses set up on my forum but they are both different ? 1 is Admin@ and the other is Ask@

Hello,

There are two types of mailbox.

1) Normal Mailbox - This is a mailbox that you log into via a client.
2) Redirection Mailbox - This redirects messages to an email address.

Now, you have a normal mailbox called Admin. Then, you tried to create a redirection mailbox called Admin too. You can only have one of them called Admin. Understand?

No that is not right I have an email address called.......

Admin@mybulgariaportal.com

and I want to redirect it to

khaliqueuddin@hotmail.com

So as you can see only one has the word ADMIN

Yes, only one has the word admin, but you already have a Mailbox called Admin.

Ok lets start again ? all I want to do is re-direct my forum mail from the standard email client that comes from Forumotion to an outside client lit Gmail, Hotmail, etc, can you then tell me how I would do this sorry to be a pain but I can not get my head round this as you can see above Jalokim is also having the same problem ?

Hey,

Don't worry about Jalokim, he has a different problem to you. I know what your problem is. Mailboxs are different to redirections, they are two different things. To get messages forwarded to your personal account you need to use a redirection. Redirections aren't designed to forward messages from your normal mailbox. This is a simple idea but it is getting very difficult to explain.

I can't say enough, they are different things. However, they can't have the same name. You have a mailbox called admin, this means you cant have a redirection called admin. You will have to delete the mailbox admin and have the redirection admin. This is why you are getting the error message.
