I picked up a virus at Servimg.com
Servimg.com is a third rate photo hosting website. Pictures often get deleted, or do not load properly or very slow. Yesterday I logged on to Servimg.com and my virus protection (Avast) alerted me that I had run into a virus. I will never use Servimg.com again.
Forumotion should look into using photobucket (or other) for a default photo host.

Re: I picked up a virus at Servimg.com
Hi,
I can deffinatly assure you that Servimig didnt give you a virus. Sometimes virus checkers can think a certain website in this case servimg is dodgy, i would have been when you uploaded your picture that a cookie or tracking cookie (totally harmless) entered your system and your virus checker alerted you.
I hope you understand.
Regards,
Beno

Hello azredliner,
Beno is correct. Also, McAfee SiteAdvisor says Servimg is also a GREEN site. Meaning it is not a threat to your computer. Hope that helps!

I've got this e-mail from forumotion:
is it real? cause I know people who'd try to destroy my forum, and I didn't register there or do anything, so I suspected a phisher...

As soon as i read the title, i KNEW you are gonna say its Avast
Good software but WAY too much false positives.

Not false positives, over sensitive. If a string which is PART of a virus, it will alert you, and tell you PART, yes, not necasrily it will do anything, but it has part of a virus or we. You can lower the settings in options i believe, but i <3 avast.

I myself use Avast! and Avast has never ever had a problem with Servimg.com
you are most likely picking it up from else where....maybe another site?

your Servimg.com account was created, because you (or a user) has hosted an image.
Servimg.com is ForuMotion's version of PhotoBucket.
it is connected to your forum, VIA ur admin panel

That is not true, could you learn your fact's, servimg is owned by forumotion!

I am frustrated, Darren, and I am bumping to do just that... get some support. I have waited for a couple of days now, watching the thread where I expounded upon the three wiped-out operating systems, and the thread appeared to be completely dead. I wondered if anyone else had started threads with this issue, and indeed they had.
What, then, would you suggest we do? I am open to suggestion.

Re: I picked up a virus at Servimg.com
That came out the wrong way, it wasn't meant to be such impolite.
(guess I didn't re-read it)
I understand your frustration
(I am having similar problem's with a friends forum right now)
The only thing that we (users) can do, is keep our antivirus up-to-date & get the best protection possible.
That is all we can do.

Re: I picked up a virus at Servimg.com
I've also got the same problem and others to do with Servimg potentially reusing URLs - I posted a thread a couple of days ago but no answer yet.
Servimg has major glaring faults - I'm going to have to recommend to all my users that they go back to Photobucket until I know for sure what the outcome of this is.
Popups for FoxyBingo, viruses and trackers are UNWELCOME when simply trying to view a photo.

I strongly agree with you Pip - the persistent nuisance pop-ups in servimg are a flippin nuisance!! Even with "pop-up blocker enabled" I still get the ad with url which starts with "optimisedby...."
For info - I wrote more about that in a topic complaining about Servimg issues, which Sanket has kindly now moved to the "Need a Technician" Board, here .....
Servimg image host not functioning - Technician needed
