Increase your forum's ratings

First topic message reminder :

Share your experience and tell by what means you have increased your forums' ratings.

1. Add your forum's URL in the main research engines :

* Google - Most simple, but it takes time before your URL is added.
* Dmoz
* Yahoo
* MSN
* Altavista :

In English

In French

In Portuguese

* Sapo (Portuguese)
* ... send us other URLs, we will add them

2. Add your forum's URL in specialized websites :

* Forum Search
* ...

3. Talk about your forum in other forums wich have approximatively the same subject

4. Talk about your forum in the Forum pomotion section

I used the meta tags i got from google and MSN,
Msn registered my site straight away, still no google though.
I just feels good when you type your sites name into a search bar and see it come up in results.

You think that feels good try making your self the only one with your name on the net via google search... Unless someone is actually selling something called "endless013" or there are a series of something called "endless(#here)" You'll only find me... I got my main forum on google between 3 days and a week because I originaly gave it my name and then a week later we gave it the name it has now Laughing

I know, cheep trick, but it worked...

When you search for something on Google, and it is one of your keywords, then it will appear in the Google Search. This is a very great way to achieve members.

To add keywords :

Admin Panel >

Display tab >

Homepage -- Generalities >

Scroll down to the Referencing : metatags section. Beside where "Keywords for your site
Words must be separated by a comma." is stated, enter some famous word searches. Some examples of famous wors searches would be :
• Hannah Montana
• Friday the 13th
• Tony Hawk
• -Holidays- (Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving)
• -Famous Movies-
• -Famous Games-
• -Small, but used words- (and, the, in)

Make sure you Save the settings afterwards.

I never put any special attention to keywords otherwise.

Edit : i wanted to do your trick now and noticed that my keyword bar is limited and already full Sad

I knew it was too good to be true Sad

How about additional meta tags ?

Hmm, then try switching your potential words to different, used words.

For example, if you have something like free forum, you could change that to like frog care or something people would normally look up-- But, use something more popular than 'frog care' (lol) like Hannah Montana, Hotels, and ect.
Some that are googled don't even have to be related to your forum Wink

but the bots never come to my website no matter how many times i submit it (except yahoo bot which comes occasionally)

Any way of getting your site across google other that typing your sites name in? What I mean is:
I type Gamesfriend into google (no gaps) and it'll come up, I put gaps in and it's nowhere to be seen. So what I'm asking is, how can I spread my site across google?

Just post a lot more messages, achieve mroe members, add Metatags (as I mentioned before), and just be patient. You'll get your forum activity.

My most successful forum has over 20,000 threads so far and over 400 members. I only got my forum this way because I be patient and wait for members to come. I usually spend time on all of my other forums and wait for activity every other week.

I did the meta tags and descriptions yet when I type in the keywords for the description of my site into google, nothing about my site comes up.. Hmm

You can also google up some free advertising forums such as http://forumansion.com

Just try promoting your forum anywhere you possibly can. If you go to a promotion forum and see that it's not being used much and the member count isn't very high, don't be fooled. That promotion forum can always get higher and higher in ratings. It only takes about 5 minutes to promote, so don't rush or skip anything.

Could you please make adding sites to search engines easier? I tried google but it hasn't showed up for over a MONTH! and I'm sick of having just 8 people on my forum. It's been nearly a year since I first got the forum and I have made absolutely NO progress. Please help!
