Installing my own chatbox

Post by Jake Blues on June 11th 2009, 1:11 am

Im pretty sure the answer will be no.

But is there any possible way I could install my own chatbox and intergrate it with my members list?

The Chatbox I would like to get is Ajax Chat.

Thank You

From the little bit i have read there it seems you can.
But Do they provide you with an embed code or is this something that has to be uploaded as a module?

if you have an embed code then yes you can use this. but if you have to upload as a module then no you cant? you can only upload mods on paid forums.

I actually like the look of that one Smile

Um i dont know i'll have to go over there and read everything.I Did not have the time.
Basically if they do provide a embed code or script then you can either put it in a template or with html you can place it anywhere else on the forum.

i have just read the requirements there and seen the phpbb2 3 versions being compatible.along with a few others too. the list is large
but i did not read if it was free or if they provide and embed codes or if it's a module upload..

once again if it's a mod upload then you can not use it on forumotion.
Actually i have never heard of a free forum host that you can upload mods too.
this is a option that paid forums have.
but if they provide embed codes then yes you can.

And i'll tell you that is what makes forumotion the best free host in my opinion.
they have more options and ways to do many things without uploading mods to where other free host do not. but now of course we are still limited compared to paid forums. but for everything that forumotion offers for free that truly kicks butt.

if they provide a embed code you can put it basically ware ever you want?
you just have to have the forums html installed. You have to tell me ware you would like it then i can help.

but be sure to go there to find out if they provide a code and if it's free.
i do not have the time to go there and read everything. so check that out then come back here if they provide a code and let me know where you would like to have it on your forum.

there's a few places you can have it. it's up to you where you want it.

and remember you can always go with something like this too.
i know this is free and they have the code. i have a few of them on some of my forums. plus you can change the background on it to what you like and they have other features too.

I agree it is absolutley awesome. The only thing I dont like is the Chatbox, the one I posted about does need to be installed so from your answer it isnt possible and it would require a paid forum.

The embed code is just a line of html code. Probably the best way to put it on your forum is create a custom widget and place the code in there. The thing to remember with a Chatbox like that is, it wont intergrate with ur forum memberlist.
