Members can reply, but can't start a thread
Hi, I just recently received a PM from a member who has had trouble with starting a thread. But she is able to reply. Does something have to be activated?

Check the permissions of that forum click the Advanced Mode at the bottom of the permissions window and make sure you have it check marked to Open a Topic

Usually the default for a new forum is that members can create threads. If you have locked the forum they won't be able to. Go to admin panel->forum->categories & forums. Then click on the little yellow gear next to the forum in question. There should be a field that says forum status. If that is set to locked no new threads can be started, so unlock it. If that isn't it, then click on the permissions tab from that page and make sure that members can open a topic.

Oh okay. I had unchecked that because I thought that "Open a Topic" gave them the ability to open a closed topic.
