Moderator Rights - Cannot ban users now?
Hi,
The moderators used to be able to ban users but after the updates from forumotion, the moderator group now cannot ban users.
Can you help to look into this problem?
I have already made the following setting.
General > Security > Allow moderators to ban members : YES
Please advice.

Re: Moderator Rights - Cannot ban users now?
be sure that you have the permissions set for the forums to moderate.
other then that what version are you using?

Re: Moderator Rights - Cannot ban users now?
Yes the permissions have been set correctly for the forums.
The moderator can moderate the forums but they cannot ban users. I need them to ban users/spammers. They used to be able to ban users but now they cannot and nothing has been modified at the admin panel.
version is PHPBB2

Re: Moderator Rights - Cannot ban users now?
Help, the same for our forum.
After the update, our Modz can not ban the users again, although I have re-set the permission ( ACP > general > security > Allow moderators to ban members : yes ). They still can moderate the forum.
Usually, there was a knob/panel/option at the member profile- page for moderators to ban, but now it is disappeared, please help, we use version 2.

Moderator, any updates?
Re: Moderator Rights - Cannot ban users now?
Can you please inform us if you are using the advanced profile or not?
Admin panel >> Users & Groups ( Tab ) > Profiles > General options /
Activate advanced profile = ??If it's set to yes, it's most probably a issue with the skin, as the Advanced profile has had problems with particular skins previously, thus you need to change your skin for it to be corrected.
However, a word from Typlo about this would be much appreciated

Re: Moderator Rights - Cannot ban users now?
the "activate advanced profile" option is set to YES.
Admin panel >> Users & Groups ( Tab ) > Profiles > General options /
Activate advanced profile = YES
And the skin is one of the default skin from the PHPBB2 library.

Re: Moderator Rights - Cannot ban users now?
Default Pbpbb2....right...should be error-lessOk, when you go to the users profile, under the first page (Assuming the 1st page is NOT the visitor message) at the very bottom, do you get similar to:
"Administrate user :Profile- Ban this member" (Just without the ban member part)?

Re: Moderator Rights - Cannot ban users now?
this is the screen that moderator sees.
(sample user's profile page - "Administrate user : Profile - Ban this member" is missing)

this is the screen that administrator sees.

You say your forum is a PhpBB2, yes.
Have you made any changes to the templates recently?

Re: Moderator Rights - Cannot ban users now?
Your not going to believe this one.
I have been trying to figure this out for missmoon for about 30 min now.
the only thing i can think of is that you do not have them set to ban?
( ACP > general > security > Allow moderators to ban members : yes click save
[b]But now hear is the part you are not going to belive.
I have the exact opposite happening to me on my test forum.
Meaning i have the mods set not to ban.. and they still can... lol
So this is very strange. the modes should not see ban members and they do not have there permission set to ban but they can?
So it has to be that the templates need to be updated or the new ones added.
maybe re-sync too? i am a lil lost right now nothing is adding up.
i am going to fiddle around with a couple more things on another forum of mine that is also a phpbb 2 version and see if this happens over there.

Re: Moderator Rights - Cannot ban users now?
hey kirk,
guess what.. im going to tell you that u cannot believe me as well.. hahahaa..
since you told me that your mods can ban when u set the option to NO, so then i set the "Allow moderators to ban members :" to NO too..
the ""Administrate user : Profile - Ban this member" line appear for the moderator. i concluded that the reverse work
. must be some program logic mess up somewhere
for the time being, i will set the "Allow moderators to ban members :" to NO, so that my moderators can ban users/spammers..
funny situation here!

Re: Moderator Rights - Cannot ban users now?
I am having a similar problem, one of my moderators cannot seem to ban members. I set the "Allow moderators to ban members :" to no she can see Administrate user : but no option to ban and i created a test account and added it to the moderators and can see Administrate user : - Ban this member. So something is a foot.

Re: Moderator Rights - Cannot ban users now?
You can all blame me for this
During my typo fixes in the admin panel, i changed it from disallow moderators to ban members to what it is now. Allow moderators to ban members. I did say you must switch the options around but i guess that was not done
So: Yes is No & No is Yes
