ok, so I am new to all of this. I would like some help to get me started. I just created a forum for a group that I moderate on another site. The set up was easy thanks! I have set the group to closed....I am assuming this will make it a private group? Please correct me if needed.

But my main question is how to I gain members. I currently have 70 people that I need transferred from our group, to this forum!

Any help on this and any hints would be great, as I have never done this before!

That is not what I am asking. I do not need anything from the old forum to come here,just the people. One by One. How do they join the forum I created? Or how do I invite them?

Just tell them one by one your forums' address or post a topic/thread in your forum(s) to tell them to come to your new forums.

ok, so I have got the adding part figured out, I had a member join, but is there a way to make this forum private? so that only people I give the address to will be able to join?

You can chose activation of accts to be by Admin only.
>Go to the Users and groups section
>user options
>chose New Accts activation by Admin
>save

Those 2 problems solved, and so as to not start another topic, I have another question here.....

Ok I may sound stupid, but really I have not done anything like this before, and I am learning, just a few things are tripping me up, maybe I am trying to hard

When i go to the Posts, there is one called Your first forum, when I click on it, It takes me to a pre-made user info post, from the creators with helpful tips,
I then click, add new topic, and it added my topic under Your Firts Forum, is there anyway I can delete this? I clicked the red X, to delete it, and posted a new forum, but on the homepage it still showed up...Your first forum

any ideas?

You can set this one to solved!!!! Got a little frustrated but, after searching thru posts by others for hours, and the help I got.....My forum is now PRIVATE!!!!

I am so happy I could scream!!!! lol kidding thanks guys, great job!
Just wish this was a little more user friendly!
