[Only-Topic] chatbox bug after the update

First topic message reminder :

uesr list background colour as gone and the messages background colour as gone crazy too

Sometimes it's seems ok, and at others error messages are back again

quick reply is quirky at times and on site photo's are on and off frequently

I beginning to wonder if bandwith is causing problems with so many

forumotion sites comeing on line now servers just cant cope with a crowd's

needs methinks........musket

I really enjoy using forumotion but being honest here:

It's kind of annoying to visit your site to see that every aspect of it is messed up, the pictures are gone, the forum part is gone, posts are disappearing, all buttons are invisible, and my members weren't informed because their admin (me) was not informed either.

me too, mine died, i have put a temporary chatbox in a post to keep us going!!!

Are the techs still working on this problem?

as far as bandwidth for individual sites..mine practically just started..we only had 56 odd posts... no pics or anything up yet...-shrugs- we weren't too worried about the posts being deleted, since most of ours was backed up anyway through PM's or in documents on our own hard drives.

but the one thing we were so excited about was that we were still able to use the chat while everything else was done last night- now we are unable to. We can log in and out *seemingly* just fine (although no notification appears for signing in, only the s/n shows up to the left.

The colors and fonts and txt bar all appear, but if you type something - NOTHING shows up. not from you, or anyone. Its not just "Leapy says: " Black, I mean there isnt even the s/n at all...

I just want my chat back...

well there have been reports of the forumotion css server crashing so that may be causing many of these problems.

wow, really? That totally blows... I hope everything gets fixed soon....

Well I think the added load of everybody chatting and a growing forumotion community has stressed out the servers and is responsible
for a lot of the quirks. They really need to start thinking more bandwidth
if they want the community to keep on growing..........musket

I do not believe that that was the cause, the forums are built to withstand heavy post counts. I think it might have been the techs trying to fix the chatbox that could have caused this.

But the darn chatbox is *still* not fixed after all this... Things seem to be back to a semblance of normalcy... no topics have disappeared since this morning, the portal is back, people can post... but still the original problem is still the same.

well at least this shows that the techs are working on something !

Not to sound too cynical, Dragonfir, but that seems to be the only optomistic part of this situation. When this many people are having this many problems, there's something wrong. There's also tons and tons and tons of posts on this site that have been entirely ignored, plenty of valid and lingering problems that are unrelated to this one. I'm also unsure why in the name of all that is holy they don't just REVERT the changes until they have things worked out instead of making things worse. The update messed up my navbar and now I have posts not displaying. My character sheet issue has not even been responded to in the course of a week, and the issue has been addressed time and time again for a year. A YEAR. I had so much hope for great things with forumotion, and the first 2 months were wonderful. But I've lost my faith. I'm pulling my forums and taking them somewhere else, no matter how much of a headache that will be. I'm just glad I didn't pay money like some people on here who are now paying for inaccessible forums. Goodbye forumotion. Good luck getting your act together.

Chatbox is STILL exactly the same on my forum

I've had a forum with Forumotion for over 18 months, paid for all my upgrades, built a nice little community .... But I'm sick of all constant annoying bugs, the unhelpful replies from staff & admin on here who would rather lock a topic than give a comprehensive reply, OUR databases being illegally held ransom....

I signed up to my own hosting yesterday and have a team of forum members manually transferring our data .... a lot of hassle that shouldn't be necessary as in my opinion forumotion should offer those who want to move somewhere more reliable their database as compensation for this latest inconvenience.

i dont see why people should "leave" just because of a few bugs, everything has them lol, ps3's xbox's, pc's, everything, the main thing is that we have people on hand that are willing to work and get the problem fixed if it wasnt for them or the admin of this site we would never have a free forum site at all, i looked all around the web searching and then i finally find forumotion...the ONLY one that you didnt have to pay for. Other then that guys just be patient and so these guys(admins techs etc) some gratitude and thanks for all their hard work to bring to us what we would never have without them

built your chatbox, copy the HTML code and put it in your welcome block on the forum.

to design your own styles, just search "HTML Color Codes" in google and change you BG and txt colors

A fix should have now been implemented, you can use your chatbox without any worry

For people still having an issue, simply type the command /clear in your chatbox, and then you'll be able to use again

it still doesn't auto scroll :|

regarding the background, the solution :
display > colors > CSS stylesheet tab > Deactivate the basic CSS > no

The background image wont show in the chatbox. I added it in the css and it dont work

Most errors seem to have been fixed, but my forum's chatbox still doesn't put members who haven't said anything in a while to away like it used to or log people out of the chatbox when they timeout.

My chatbox didn't allow any messages to be entered on to the log for about 24 hours until about 10am UK time this morning.

Now messages appear though there are still 2 faults:
Firstly, users don't time out. They have to log out or they stay listed.
Secondly, the auto refresh doesn't work and users have to scroll messages manually.

I'd be grateful for any help on this.

What browser do you use ?

I've tried both IE7 and Mozilla Firefox. The errors are with both.

I get the following error in Internet Explorer when the chatbox is activated and displayed at the bottom of the forum. I do not get any errors with Google Chrome or FireFox.


Also, autoscroll doesn't work and some members are disconnected even though they are still active.
