Persistent spammer

Post by missmoon on November 4th 2009, 9:40 pm

There is a persistent spammer on my forum promoting sites that sell counterfeit stuff. I have banned him several times to no avail. He just keep signing new accounts. How can i ban by ip mask? I want to ban the entire domain/subdomain. I tried putting xxx.xxx.*.* but it doesn't take * wild card

if they are posting sites that have illegal content/materials report the sites and his ip to your service provider and any other local or government law enforcement you can. it's hard to rid spammers completely. all you can do is keep banning them. we deal with it here all the time. it's a pain . but unfortunately it just comes with the territory of running forums.it always has.

so is there anyway that we can do a domain ban? most other forums are able to by using xxx.xxx.*.*

I think before the update, it can accept the * as wildcard. But after that, it changes all my wildcard to 255 and doesn't accept anymore

it may be possible. i will have to pm a global mod.
i am not the best when it comes to domains things for free forum host.
i know on a paid forum you can block them right away.. but there still ways around it.

I will pm mrmario and give him the link to this thread to see if he can help with your question? once again i dont realy know much when it comes to the domains on free forums.

thank you very much. Currently they allow xxx.xxx.xxx.* which allows a wild card but it is not sufficient.

The spammers come in from same domain and as such i would like to be able to ban the entire domain if possible.
