Private message problem

Hello,

I have a bit problem. One of member's profile, there isn't the private message button, and the normal members can't send to her private message. I saw her profile options and everything was ok. Why is it?

Just the normal members cannot send pm for her, the moderators and the admins of course can do it.

Scroll down to 'Special admin-only fields' and check 'Can send Private Messages'.

It's ok, it's yes. But the problem is that, the normal members can't send to her private message. In her profile there isn't the private message button. In an other member's profile there is it, but in her profile not. Why?

Sounds like this member has turned off her PM's in her profile or has chosen not to accept communications from other members.

I've seen it, and the options is ok, she hasn't turned of them.

Oh yes! It is possible.
I just forgot about it. The feature is added in the recent update.

The option is there in Profile > Preferences.

You would not see this if the member has chosen to not accept PM's. This information is only seen by the member themself in their profile and you as the admin cannot see what options a member chooses.

I'm in her account, so I should look at it.

you should still be able to set it in you admin panel to not allow them the choice.

this is a long shot but you can try it.

activate there advanced profile and check off contact user?

admin panel>user/groups>profiles>general options

select (Activate advanced profile ) and check off profile,friends and contact user for tabs to be displayed. then hit save.

this should at least allow you and members to send pm through her profile page.
and if you dont see a icon for it on the skin be sure to look at the top of the page for contact. then it will open to her email and pm. her email she can still have the choice.

No, there isn't activate the advanced profile, but I've just tried it. I checked of the profile and the friends, and the main page in the profile is the contact user, but there isn't the private message button also. If I'm in a normal member's account, I'll can look at in everybody's profile the private message button and I can send to him or her a message, but this profile doesn't contain the PM icon, so I don't look at the icon neither in normal profile nor advanced profile. :-\

And if I use advanced profile, I'll be in the Contact part and there isn't. Does anybody have any idea why?

I tried to solve the problem with an other account in my forum and maybe I know why disappear the a private message icon. So, my member change her options, and in the preferences there is this option: allow members to contact me by email.

So, when she changed this option from No to By website form, her private message icon in her profile disappeared, and nobody can send to her private message.

And, the other problem, you said to me the new function, which in the preferences can close the private message sending with the member. So this option isn't in the preferences, so my members can't change that.

Why disappear the private message icon, and why isn't there the new functional?

I solved the problem, and I like to tell you what was it. I think it's a kind of script mistake. So, I use phpBB2 version, and there isn't the "allow members to send me private messages" option, in the preferences. But, when I changed the "allow members to contact me by email" option from no to an other one, the private message is change from 'yes' to 'no' so nobody (just the admins and mods) can send to the member private message.

But I changed the version to phpBB3 and there is the private message function, so I turned on the sending in my and my member's account, so at this moment everything is ok. ^^

UPDATE: No, it was my fault, because I edited the template page, so when was the new function, it didn't fresh.
