Hi rhe, well i will explain the functions of both. Hope they clarify to you both of them.

Points System

Its when you post in the forums, you get points. Whatever values you set for that specific forum, whenever a user posts in that forum he will get those points.

Reputation System
The Reputation System too gives points. But, this is a system, wherein the author of the thread can give reputation points to the users who reply. Its on the author's discretion whether to give a + rep or - Rep.

Okay thanks for that Smile

One more question though - I have never had the points system activated but I did it now and all of the members already have some points. How did that happen? Does it automatically start adding points when you create a forum but the system is not activated?

Yes if they post on your forum they get the points for every post/topic they make but you can click Points management to see how much Points you wanna give them per post and per topic.

Yes thats based on the posts they have already made.
If you want to start it fresh, then you will need to manually donate negative points to each user. I think that depends on the number of members on your forum. I had around 300+ members, but we did manually donate points.

I have 1696 members so I cannot imagine doing anything manually.

Erm, I assume you were talking about reputation points there?
You cannot change the points system points can you now or did I misunderstand?
And how does point donating work?

Well Rep points & normal points are both the same.

Yes, you cannot change the points system points, unless you donate negative points.

Well you can donate points to a certain user, either 10 or -10. If you give -ve 10 then it will reduce his total points by 10.
