[WoW] bbcode tags?

i recently noticed there is a [WoW][/WoW] bbcode tag, but i dont know how i could use this. from a quick test-review it could be used nicely for many things if i can get that working! it wasnt announced with the latest update, so i guess it was already longer available? hopefully can give a brief explanation how to use this tag.

no one here that can give me some info? i just want to know how to use that bbCode properly...

I'm also wondering about this. Wondering if it had something to do with World of Warcraft (haha?), I typed an item name inside the tags thinking that the post would show a small pic of the item. Apparently that didn't work though.

Can anyone help us out with an explanation? Thanks!

Yeah it looks like the [wow] tag doesn't work on these forums. It should work like shown here in this link Working [wow]

Thanks for that info Blindphleb! I have always wondered what it was supposed to be.

It does show the popup here, but it doesn't appear to load the correct info. Just "Item not Found" unless the correct info was not entered. Not real sure.

Yeah I understood that, but I don't understand why some items work and others do not.

I don't know anything about WOW ...hehe but I can search some item that's work.
Go to google and type "wow item" you can find more items. I go to this page http://www.wowitemdatabase.com/
But not all of them work, I just test the item that have same color with Martin Thunder ( sorry, I don't know what color's name). Maybe the new ones haven't added into database.

Finally... It took me a while, but here you all go...

First go to the WoW Armory Search Page, and type in the item you're looking to post, click search.

Then hold your cursor over the item you've just searched for and look at the bottom of your browser window. It will show you something like http://www.wowarmory.com/item-info.xml?i=25697. What you are looking for is the item number. In this case 25697

Now, in YOUR post, where you want to display the item, you'll just type

Code:: [wow]25697[/wow] Felstalker Bracers

You'll end up with this:

Felstalker Bracers

so world of warcraft have a custom BBcode with a database of WOW items with a rollover popup description that works on all phpbb code forums??

I'm sure someone could play around with it in their ACP using what they give in that first link in this thread to MOD the BBcode to fit items/armor/ weapons ect they have saved to a photobucket or something. You'd have to know html and all that but its doable I'd think.

Well of course if you don't play WoW, or have a forum based on WoW it's pointless. I mean, that's a no brainer.

For those that do, it's something they can use to enhance their forum.

There is a possibility to create custom BB codes... it has been suggested in the suggestions column already... maybe people didn't really know what its about and thats why it hasn't got many votes...

but with custom BB the administrator of a forum creates a set of special BB codes that can be used within his forum...
I don't know how this system works ...but i got a feeling that it would work similar to the personal profile.

Any word on if this has been updated to reflect data from WotLK?
Currently it only shows the icon not the tooltip

As opposed to the TBC items which work fine

If there is someway or another to use this for other RPG's like how forumotion already has a RPG page in the ACP, then I would gladly like to use it. It would be a good addition to the service, but if what Jalo says is true then I could probably make my own BB Code for it though it'd take a lot more time and countless hours of pouring over the ACP just to figure it out.
