Note to Members (11/11/08)

Hi,

It has come to my attention that things have gone a little out of hand during these past two weeks where I have been absent.

The news saddens me, and some changes will be brought to daylight to ensure this doesn't repeat itself. I want to insist, however, that these changes are not to punish members, but to accept a fact that to improve, change is sometimes needed.

First of all, concerning the new update. As usual, there are some members here who do not seem to appreciate. I’d just like to point out that no matter what can be said, this is definitely one of the biggest updates ever done so far. The techies have implemented many new features, and I’m sure many more will come. As usual, they’re still human (helas) and bugs may have been produced. As usual, they will be sorted in due time

Secondly, about the General Discussions. We have been considering implementing some changes since some time. Recent events invite us to present them earlier. As stated in the rules, they’re not supposed to be about any kind of topic/issue/problem. Yet more and more topics that we feel aren’t welcome are being created and kept active.
As such, we will be enforcing the rules and will proceed to a clean up some time this week. In the meantime, I’ve taken the decision to temporarily close that section. It’ll be re-opened as soon as the clean up is finished
Also, there will be a new Only-Topic, aimed for members to converse directly with me, or any other Admin willing to answer. It will be mainly for concerns and complaints. I insist as of now that posts not respecting any sort of legitimacy, or phrased in an aggressive and non-constructive way will be removed. This isn’t because we can’t take criticism but because we’d rather a clean “healthy” topic where issues can be solved, rather than baffled and heated arguments serving no one.

On another note, we’ll be adding a new rank in the personalised profile: the warning status. As said before, this isn’t to punish members. It is simply to allow them to know where they are. It isn’t always easy to remember every detail, and this simplifies matters. Members can always P.M staff, preferably myself, if they have any questions concerning their warning status.
Personally, I’d like to inform members that this particular decision isn’t all for my liking, and indeed if time proves right, it might be possible to see this option removed, it all depends on you

Helas, now the bad part. As said before, and as I will always say; I will never tolerate my staff to be attacked. Who ever started isn’t important at this state, what’s needed it that futile wars be ended. Rules may be applied in a more severe manner for a short period of time to ensure that this ends here and now. I haven’t taken my decisions yet as of what I’ll personally be doing, and I need to speak with both staff members and regular members – as it isn’t tolerated that they be attacked either…
On a side note, I do not appreciate the site of the WAR Avatars. As such, I'd like to see them dissapear lest I should see myself forced to issues warnings about them. When you see two people fighting on the road, do you walk away and avoid problems, or do you get involved and take bets on who will win?
