HTML Question

Post by Angelbear on November 19th 2008, 6:26 pm

How do I turn on HTML to allow me to post with it in a message?

I made an HTML page (Admin Panel > Modules > HTML > HTML Pages Management), previewed it, saved it, but don't know how to get it in any message. Copy and paste doesn't work - the HTML code or the finished page.

When I try to use HTML in a message, it says I don't have HTML turned on.

Can you please help me? I have been working on this for days.
I am so frustrated. I know it's got to simple. I can't find the answer.
I have been writing HTML for years. So it's not the HTML part that has me stumped.
It's trying to figure out how to use it to post a background into a message.

I am not sure if I have two problems or one. Are they related?
I want to know
1) how do I turn on HTML to allow me to make a page with my HTML
2) How do I get to use the page I made in HTML pages Management?

Thank you for your time.

1) In admin Panel,

General>Forum>Messages & Emails

Under the messages frame
Allow HTML : check this to yes.

Hope it helps.

2) By using html pages management, you can make customizable html pages which you could add.
Something of what i have done in my forum.

Hope this answers both your questions.

Also, you need to allow your HTML by making it available to access from your profile too.

• My Profile (found on your Log-In widget) =>
• Perferences =>
• *Scroll down to "Always Allow HTML:", and select Yes. =>
• Save

I still can't seem to get the Html I made connected to anything.

Did you just link to it? How did you get it on your forum as a page?

Once you enter the html code related to whatever you want.
There are options of
Do you wish to use your forum page header and page footer ?
If you say yes here, it will have that forum look with the default headers & footers.
If you say no, it will just be blank without anything related to the forum.

Use this as a homepage?
According to your preferences.

Once you enter the html in Html source * & hit save.

Your page will be created with the link that will be shown in the html pages management.

Then you can go to display>Homepages>Headers and Navigation

Click on 'Add a customized menu.'

Then you can fill in the details, this will appear on your homepage navigation bar.

Does this help?

Thank you ...........I will give that a try.

I guess what I was trying to do was make a message post with a backgroud.

ie - click for Breast Cancer Cause

Thinking I could make it for one message on a catagory on a forum.

When I try to use it, it gets distored..........badly distored.

Thanks again.

Is it backgrounds that are used in MSN groups?
I think I know what you mean - I looked at your link you posted above and I use them type of backgrounds in our forum - took me a while to get the code right lol When i tried to copy and paste a background it went distorted also
If you want the code I use for our forum let me know Smile

Missy - did you get it?
Yes, Please!

Yes, I am coming from a MSN group. And so much is different.

I changed the code to make it HtML.
I tried both changing both from Photobucket's HTML and IMG codes.

Everything I did - it was still distorted.

I would love to see how you fixed this.
Thank you so much!

Hugs,
Angel

Oh woot thats great Very Happy and your welcome glad I could help you
You can edit the code to make the background more you own - I like my backgrounds with 3 layers but you can remove some of the code if you prefer 2 layers etc plus you can change the width of the layers too
Gotta love the preview button lol
Have fun playing Angel Very Happy
