We need Badges in user profiles
Badge System for user Profiles
I was wondering if its possible to have a badge system on all the user profiles. Just as we have a space for friends there will be space for "My Badges". Now how the user will get these badges : Some examples :
1. When a user gets registered, he will get a badge.
2. He posts above 100 posts he will get a badge.
3. Some custom badges as well.
All these badges will be represented by images. Of course the way to get those badges and way to get them should be customizable by the site admin.
Please support this idea folks

Voted yes.
@ karkooshy - You can, but it will display weirdly. Like this:
Badge 1
Badge 2
ect...
When what he is suggesting is it'll be like this:
Badge 1 Badge 2 Badge 3 ect... Also it'll display in your user profile, too.

Voted yes, because I wouldn't want to go through all the problems and try to make this in as a Specialized Profile Field, which might be hard or even impossible.

Re: Badge System for user Profiles
I would LOVE this feature
"Acheivments" is also cool, sorta auto badge awards.
A few of my thoughts:
It should be similar to vBullitan's system, large badges for the profile, and mini versions for messages (if you choose). They should also give a discription upon hover, if this passed, I'd abosulutly LOVE forumotion( more than I do now).

I like that kind of thing, makes the members feel special. I know it will make my members feel special besides getting the top poster badge (Thanks to graphic designers on Forumotion).

Mhm. My members actually really get competitive when it comes to them, and making a sleeker, more professional, official one would just be great.
Edit: Here's my thoughts of how the feature could possibly look:

(in the profile)

(on a member's message)

(on a member's message, and being hovered)

well thats some good images! But the number of badges and the ways to get them shud be only customizable the site owner! the members wont be able to customize it. Common guyz we need this ! So far we are dng good at 100% votes ! Vote on! Folks

Mhm. I didn't say anything because with forumotion, you know you'll be able to customize things somehow. This is on of the few features I think would really make forumotion top noche.

Re: Badge System for user Profiles
you can all reddy do that soo i vote no because you dont need a mod for this just a brain.
1st go in to users & groups - users - profiles
2nd go to special feilds and go on to to
+
3rd choose the type as a images list
4th name the opion mood
5th check both of the preveiw opions
6th check member can edit this himself
7th upload the images you want to use to a images host site
8th click on the + and paste the links from the host site
and if you are dumb you have to click save at the end (thats a great idea)

Re: Badge System for user Profiles
God knows why I came here and built my site with you bunch of amateurs that think you are so great and can talk to your members like rubbish, with forums that are so buggy they outabe on a tramps vest, you have more down time than up time, crashing everybody's forums with your so called updates, and to top it off you show ads on everybody's forums too. You do have a busy support forum, members wanting to string you up from the nearest lamp post because of the way you treat them, complaining about all the bugs, the down time and now the inclusion of ads. Members only stay because they don't want to lose all their posts so have no choice but to put up with all the mess you've made.
So Forumotion are crap in my opinion, i'm with cherry.
There certainly is a new king on the block for the worst forum providers, and its you lot.
Dream on forumotion 8-)
