Bump topic

Post by coaster on November 21st 2007, 10:25 am

Some boards have a "Bump Topic" button. I don't think that's been mentioned here, yet. There's a MOD for phpBB2:
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=317637&hilit=

I think it would be really cool if that feature is incorporated here. Smile

edit -> poll added

Please add a poll so people can vote.

I don't mind if this gets added or not. But I don't think it is the most important addition to Forumotion.

I'm not 100% sure either, but, I think it is when you create a topic, and somebody posts in another topic in that particular forum, so the last post says the other one, so you go back to your topic and type bump so your topic is in the last post info so people can see it more easily.

At least I think that's what it is...

Correct, This is the same as bumping a topic by replying in it quite often.

I voted no as there will be quite alot of confusion of different topics getting added to the top of the list and then others get added to the top of the list.

I find people who bump topics RUDE and HIGHLY ANNOYING as it is a sign of impatience, we all have stuff to do in our lives, whether it be working, looking after a sick relative, visiting a loved one.. so many more reasons aswell.. too many possibilities to list them all.

If anyone bumps a topic on my Forum, I warn them, if they do it again, they are banned!!

Last thing I want is a full indox of reply alerts from some idiot keep bumping a topic.

So to that end... "NO"

Sure. BUMP stands for : Bring up my post. When more and more topics are added, your topic is getting down. If you post bump, it means that you want it back to the top, so a lot of people can see it and possibly help you.

I voted no. I think that this button would be overused & abused for useless things. I allow bumping on my forums, but it should be done every 18 hours. If its done in range of 4-6 hours - warning. Patience, sometimes i wait 2 days, before bumping... Very Happy

Yes, this is really needed!! It should stop the "Bump" spam posts.

However it should be cutomizable such as what forum you are allowed to use the feature in.
