A calendar event entry that DOESN'T post a message in our forums?
Calendar events that don't post messages on the forum
What I really dislike about the events calendar on our forums is how you are forced to make it a post in one of your forums as well. You could attach the events calendar to a forum that isn't seen by most, but then that defeats the purpose. Most forums work so that you can post an event in the calendar that doesn't post a message on the forum and this is the way it should be, or at least the option should be there to skip posting a message in the forums.
For example, if you want to post events or holidays in the calendar such as Christmas, Halloween, Easter etc...you should be able to make an entry into the events calendar that doesn't post a message as well in your forum about it. It's redundant and silly to do this and especially if you post the event just a few days before the occasion. What's the point of having an event reminder if there has already been a post about it in the forum itself?
Hope everyone will agree and vote on this idea, it would also be nice to have recurring events handled this way as well.

I would like to see it be optional such as a checkbox on the submit event for:
Post this on the calendar only
Post this in the event forum only
Post this on both the calendar and the event forum
Post this on the calendar only
Post this in the event forum only
Post this on both the calendar and the event forum

And we love it that it will post in a forum (please don't remove that, just make it optional) as well BUT have certain posts we do not want in the forum, like recurring events that recur several days in a row and require individual postings to show on each day in the calendar.
