Post by josh on Thu Mar 08, 2007 6:41 pm

dear edit boards.com,

i think it be great to have instance messeging then you can contact them and it will pop up on your screen like on friendcodes.com{there site might be down}when the the site was up they had 24,000 members and this little programe help them at the start.i think it will be great for both sides us because we get more members your company because they can use it on there prudot featers page.i now you have the chat and pms but so did they and i bet it will be a hit!

ps some words are spelled wrong

Then why not use, Yahoo messenger, or Hotmail messenger, or AOL messenger, or Meboo.com, Or Gabbly.com... No need for "MOD" there are many programs out there that already do it.

We already have the pm system and you can make it so that they pop up when you recieve a new message, as long as your pop up blocker is off or can be set to accept pop ups from forumotion.com

Meboo.com, and Gabbly.com are 100% free!

Meboo uses all IM systems, all you need is an account (Also free) and you ont even need an account on meboo(Which is free...)

Gabbly you dont even need an acccount....

PM's are one of the best features here. I think they are much more important than IMs. However, they do not enable a private (runnung) conversaion with anyone. If we tried to do that with PMs we'd fill up our mailboxes in 5 minutes.

My members don't use the chatbox because the whole forum can see what we are writing. And if I require them to sign up for an IM service they'll never do it (free or not).

I do NOT propose that we replace anything just add an IM module. It seems by reading these posts that there is a need for it, because none of these other functions really solve the need. So I am GAME.

I don't like the Idea. That's what MSN is built for.

I'm for this idea. Sure AOL and Meboo work but the idea of most sites is to keep as many features open for members as possible, and so you don't want them having to go to Aol or meboo or gabbly when you can have it right on the site and keep them where you want them.

Plus, it'd be better then the chatbox and overall help sites. It'd be like Instant Pm's. Like nols said, we don't want to replace the chatbox or PM system, just have it as an added feature. Like the PM warning box tells you someone is PMing you, well it could have the samebox and then you click open and you are inserted directly into an IM with someone or you say no and don't converse. I could definitely see this idea being extremely beneficial to my site which loves to chat.
