Solved Domain question ?

Post by WHITESABBATH November 30th 2011, 5:36 pm

couple years back i had the option to select a new domain via forumotion, which i had done. within minutes i tried to retrieve it, but it was too late. domain was already taken. The domain/address http://theunit.forumotion.net has sat dormant since Nov 24, 2009. Not a single post was ever written, nor any alterations made to sites appearance.Other than the founder (who hasn't viewed/logged into site since Nov 24, 2009) there is 0 membership . Is it possible for me to obtain this domain/address.? If so can you please instruct me as to what i must do.
Your time and consideration is appreciated.
Respectfully
WS

Isnt it normal for forums of forumotion to be deleted if they arent used for a long time?

Guess you have 2 options:
Wait till its available
Take another name extension(theunit.forumactie.com?)

Hello,

If someone owns the domain because you forgot to renew it, you won't be able to get it unless its back on the market.

MrMario,
Please don't misunderstand me,this isn't my being forgetful to renew the domain.I surrendered the domain 2 yrs ago. . The domain and/or the site attached to domain, has sat dormant for 2yrs. nobody's using it,not even it's founder has logged in since Nov 09. Truly i wouldn't request a domain that's active. So then i'll ask,
"How long does a .forumotion Domain sit dormant before going on the market"?

Are you talking about the custom domain or this one?

Does not domains expire? If that founder has not be on the site/domain since 2009, would not the domain have expired by now?

Yes the link/domain you posted is the domain i'm referring to.
If it ain't possible, then i can live with it. I figured it wouldn't hurt any to ask. Wink

But, that domain is already working on that forum. Is it not your forum?

No it's not my forum the domain is attached to, or i wouldn't be requesting to obtain it. The domain in question was mine 2yrs ago, but i had changed it to e-co.forumotion . I had discovered that who ever obtained the domain theunit.forumotion after i surrendered it, hadn't done anything with it since he/she obtained it. That's been over 2 yrs now..Had it been an active site the domain was attached to, i wouldn't had even bothered to ask.
I don't know how to better explain this than i have already.
Bottom line is the domain is attached to a site that has no members , no post , no forums/categories, no logo, NOTHING,for over 2 yrs... If the founder doesn't need it or use it, then i sure can.
If i'm asking too much or its too much work to make it happen, then i'll seek elsewhere for a domain similar/suitable to my needs. Just let me know..
That's all.

From what I understand from iCANN.ORG is that you can't get a domain name that is taken from someone, unless you contact the owner of it which they can refuses since its their domain. Not really sure you'll get it back, but it really up to you to get a hold of this person.

Would you happen to have owners #..lmao With very little info to notify the owner, sorta defeats that option. lets remember the owner hasn't even logged into the site since they obtain the domain. 2yrs..
I'm Not trying to create a fuss by any means.I loove FM staff . I'm ignorant to how these domains are handled. I just see one that's obviously not being used ,(or gaining much ad exposure), and i'm asking to obtain it...gimme gimme Very Happy

Perhaps more trouble than it's worth, or even possible ( I still don't know); I have tagged this request as "complete".
I have obtained a domain that I'm content with.
Thanks
