Reqeust limit exceeded
Right my forum is still having issues which are in need of technician.
Both of my problems im about to outline now have happened to lots of my members, so it IS the forum, it IS NOT my browser or computer.
1. Frist problem is the problem you have been hearing a lot lately. Every now and then the forum keeps going to the 'You can return to index page' on every link. This makes it impossible to view forums, inbox, or even the ACP. This problem has NOT been fixed yet.
2. My second problem is this:
Every now and then when i click on something (and my other members have also experienced it) it goes to a page with this message:
"
Request limit exceeded
It appears that your computer has made too many requests on the same page recently. Please make sure your antivirus is up to date.
If you have any questions about this message, feel free to contact the support""
So im assuming this is forumotions... so here i am contacting the support which it so invited me to do.
My forum address is: www.leopardgeckoforum.com

Re: Reqeust limit exceeded
1. If its not fixed how come there isn't much topics about it now?
2. Request limit exceeded => Means you are accessing your forum/account way to much and need to wait.

Re: Reqeust limit exceeded
1. I don't know but... for me its clearly not fixed. Many users are still experiencing the problems.
2. And thats plausible. But other members who aren't very regular are also recieving this error.

i have never head of either one of these problems and have had forumotion forums almost since the begining.
the first one i am not sure what you mean, it wont redirect to the index page or it keeps redirecting there?
Then the second one. That is really odd,
I have stayed logged in some of my forums for over 24 hours before and never had a message like that. what exactly is it supposed to be requesting? let alone what is the significant relation have to do with your virus protection?
Have you ever posted screen shots of these messages?
To me it seems that it is leaned toawrds something on your end? maybe your computer settings, browser settings operation system or just something you may have to allow with whatever virus protection you are using?
Now if this is indeed a forumotion error message,
then that can change everything as well, So if you have never posted screen shots of these errors please do post, if you did post them before then please post again.
Like mario has pointed out, it's odd that no one else is reporting this, and it's a first for me.
Once again i have never seen or heard of these problems for as long as i had forumotion forums along with being staff here for the last 4 years or so , give or take.
So to get a tech on it, we really have to to try to trouble shoot as many things as possible.
for all we know it could be something corrupt you may have on your forum, like some sort of script or coding, then if it was or is something on your end.. lord only knows.
Have you tried working on your site though different computers? or have access to a couple different public computers anywhere?
Answer what you can, But please do post them screen shots.
It may sound as if you are hearing the same things over again, but these are pretty odd errors.
One more thing do you allow html on your site? and where is it these errors occur the majority of the time, like post body, index board, portal or admin panel?
I am just trying to trouble shoot all we can to try to get a good sense of what to rule out first.

Re: Reqeust limit exceeded
Both of these issues happen at complete random. Nothing in particular, nowhere in particular... but simply on any click which changes the page. so any <a href>.
The first issue i don't seem to be experiencing anymore. So i think i'll leave this out.
The seoncd issue i am still having issues with (not as bad but still there).
from reading the error message it DOES sound like it something wrong with my computer or browser.
However many of my members reported the same issue, which leads me to think its either my forum or forumotion.
I have a lot of scripts running but im about 97% positive none of them are causing the issue.
I don't allow HTML. so it can't be that.
As for screenshots, i will get them as soon as i can, but as i say it happens at random. So i don't know when that will next be. haha.
Thanks for your help.

Ok please do get a screen shot the next time it happens,
See whats really messed up is your saying it dont happen all of the time, so if it is a bad script then it;s kind of hard to determine which one it may be.
As far as the html question, that was more for incase it was always happening in a certain thread or post, then i would have said turn it off and go through all the post and see if some one has any html codes in there that are curupting the board.. oh and i have seen people do that before... lol
But thats good at least we was able to rule that out.. it's a start

Re: Reqeust limit exceeded
The request limit problem is being caused by eToxic attempting to make it more difficult for people to scrape their boards and go to another service. They have drastically reduced the allowable number of HTTP GET/POST requests in a specific timeframe. I have encountered this error recently as well when I was deleting all the templates on a board. That must be done manually, one-by-one, and after I was 2/3 done, I had to stop for 30 minutes due to this error message. I understand and appreciate eToxic's concern about scraping, but if the limit for HTTP GET/POST requests can be reached manually, it's set too low!2. My second problem is this:
Every now and then when i click on something (and my other members have also experienced it) it goes to a page with this message:
"
Request limit exceeded
It appears that your computer has made too many requests on the same page recently. Please make sure your antivirus is up to date.

I wonder if eToxic realized (or even cared) that this will also have an effect on SEO. If I could hit the limit manually, then spiders/bots are hitting the limit as well.
In your case, you are seeing the error because on each page of your board, you have multiple iFrames open to other parts of the board, along with several AJAX requests. If this limit is permanent, your only solution is to remove one or two of the iFrames.

Re: Reqeust limit exceeded
I dont think it's really a forumotion issue?
dunno eToxic, never heard of them, never had any encounters with them as far as i can remember either? But seems Dion has told LGforum solution.
So i would try that first

Re: Reqeust limit exceeded
I get that error on my forum too !!!! I've seen it in many forumotion forums !!!
This is really frustrating !!
Now I get that error at times on admin panel
Is this a forumotion error or an error caused by mistaken coding on our forums by us and if is forumotion will it be fixed ?

sgeorge please stop with the posts and then deleting them and re posting then re-deleting them, its annoying and useless bumping. Kind of hard to know if it will if they did it on purpose,

Re: Reqeust limit exceeded
I did not such a thing now... I have many members complaining about this bad error and here are not clear answers !!! You have a rule no to double post before 24 hours... I did not bypass it... But the problem is not on that forum that's why you are not complaining... It is on other forums...
All I want to know is that :
Will that be corrected ????
If yes should we do something ???
And if yes again how long will that take so as to stop asking...
Thank you - Please answer...

You did indeed do it yesterday and today. No need to tell me the rules here I know them by heart. Anyways, no need to reply to this point.
sgeorge I said its kind of hard to know. Till an answer is given you can't do much on your side and it doesn't mean it will be fixed.
