Hi i am new to making forums and i recently purchased a domain on my site through forumotion, a recieved my validation e mail but when i followed the steps i got this message

The supplied domain name is not well configured
Your CNAME must redirect to : footballfanatics.iftopic.com

I dont know what to do as i want my site to be www.footballfanaticsuk.com

please help asap

That url already existed, I don't sure but I think you can't change your forum adress in www.footballfanaticsuk.com Wink

the url is mine i had to make a new account to log in as my previous log in details didnt work i set up http://footballfanatics.iftopic.com/

You have to buy your domain name from forumotion and renew your domain name every year in order to keep it Smile

if you have recntly bought your domain name ..then it might take a while to come through

You can set up the redirect to the new domain in your ACP >>General>>Forum>>Forum Address>>Personal domain name: ..Force the URL redirection :..Yes Smile

I bought the domain name yesterday and got my validation today both through Forumotion so i dont think it has expired

ACP >>General>>Forum>>Forum Address>>Personal domain name: ..Force the URL redirection :..Yes

ACP= Administration Panel .. You'll find the link at the bottom of your Index page

this is a joke i paid for my domain and i expect to be able to use it, whats the point in having "help" if they dont have a clue ???? trying to make me look stupid with ur smileys when u are the one who doesnt know !!

What was the date you got your email to say that the domain name was allocated
as it doesn't show up in web searches

I got the email today and when i enter it, takes me to forumotion and states -

The forum www.footballfanaticsuk.com doesn't exist.Verify the internet address you typed : www.footballfanaticsuk.com,
and try again if there is a mistake.
It is possible that the administrator has chosen to delete it.

Try your forum URL from time to time in your browser if it shows then it has become active. The delay is caused because the Domain name has to be sent to all IP's and domain name servers before it gets listed. Then it becomes active.

so was the verification e mail just to say i had the domain and then i will get another saying it is active ? sorry to be a pain but i am really new to all this and getting a bit stressed lol
