Complex passwords?

Complex passwords?
One of my users lost their orignal password so I set up a temp one for them. I asked them in a follow up if they had been able to log in and change their password. Below is the response.
Yes but when I tried to change my password it keeps telling me that my password is not complex enough and won't let me change it. I use a 10 character combination of numbers and letters so I'm not sure how much more complex your server wants.
Is there an issue I should know about or a resolution?
thanks
Also love all the script colors for words. Is there a way to do that in our forums?

Re: Complex passwords?
Mmmm?
Try changing his pass to another temp one again, give it to him and ask him to try it again. It seems odd it would not work, so just ask him to try again then if not, we will have to try to trouble shoot and or get a tech on it?
For the second question?
which ones, what do you mean? lol

Re: Complex passwords?
I will do so and let you know how it works out. I meant the pallet of colors you have in the font color section. OUr place is stuck with 8 or so in the drop box.

If you want a color picker like the one here, visit Dion's forum.

Re: Complex passwords?
My user is pulling their hair out! He is already registered at the forum
Tried it again and I am able to sign in with the password you provided (watchlord2).
However when I try to switch it for my more complex 10 digit mix of numbers and letters I get the following:
"Your password is too simple. Try using a more complex password.
We recommend using a combination of numbers and letters in uppercase and lowercase to create a more secure password.
If your password is still not complex enough, you will not be able to continue registering."I'm at a loss, how much more secure do they want my password to be? It's already long and complex. In fact it is longer and more complex than the temp passwords you've given me, yet the systems takes those and not mine.
Oh well, let me know if you can fix it, if there is no solution don't worry about it.
Take care,
Isthmus.

In regards to the colors, Not sure how to use Java or put it into the CSS.

Re: Complex passwords?
I have never heard of this happening, i have made temp passwords with far more less and have never gotten this message.
You should make a test account as a regular member and see if it happens to you as well.
Other then that i will have to pass it on to a pro admin Mario to see whats causing it, because i have never seen it happen before.

Yeah ok i did a few test on my test forum.
And you really have to be using something simple for that message to come up.
and i mean like adcdefg or 123456 or your user name followed with a 1.
because i tried a few small pass with 6 characteristics.. and just had a cap and couple numbers with letters and it went right through.
So you have to tell him it don't matter if it's long.. like 123456789 or something, it's to simple.. so he has to come up with something better, there is nothing we can do, it's something he is going to have to figure out, and whatever he is using is way to simple.
Once again i have tested it, and only very simple pass i try to create come up with that message, all other pass with a cap couple numbers or mixed letters worked every time.
