Change Default Search Options Empty Change Default Search Options

Post by t2smith November 26th 2011, 8:07 pm

Right now, the search on forumotion sites uses "Search for any terms or use query as entered" by default. Is there a way to change it to use "Search for all terms" by default in the options or in the CSS code?

The way it is now using "Search for any terms or use query as entered" by default, if you type in Amber Dubois on my site, it returns every topic with the word Amber in it and every topic with the word Dubois in it. It ends up returning 16 results with only one being relevant to what the searcher is looking for, and the relevant result only comes up sixth in the search.

In my opinion, searching for Amber Dubois should not return topics containing Amber Alert or Amber Westereng ahead of the topic containing Amber Dubois.

If the default search used the "Search for all terms" option, then the Amber Dubois topic would be the only topic returned when searching for Amber Dubois and the search results would be much more accurate and useful for forum users.
