Invalid password but password is correct

Post by Claudia on December 1st 2011, 11:16 pm

Hello, a member of my forum has a problem. When she wants to log in she sometimes gets the announcement that her password is incorrect. This has happened multiple times and so she has changed her password now a couple of times. Does anybody know how this is possible and how it can be solved? Thanks in advance!

I sure wish someone could help with this issue. I'm having the same problem with multiply membership. It used to be just my UK users, now, it's coming to the States.

Did you reset the password for the user in the admin panel?

I did that once, but the other times she did it herself.

No, that's not it because she has changed her password several times now and then she can login for a while until she gets the announcement that the password is incorrect/invalid.

Why does she need to change the password.

What i will suggest you to do is, change the password & provide her a new password. Ask her not to change it & use it for a couple of days to check if there is a problem again.
If there isn't she can then change her password to whatever she wants & then check for any abnormalities.

I think you do not get the problem. This is going on for months now. She has a correct password and she can login for a while, but then she can't. Don't know why that is happening, but that's the problem. That's why she (or me) has to change her password again. Otherwise she can't enter the forum. What you suggest is already been done.

Have you ever checked it yourself? I know users sometimes forget their passwords. Since, this is not happening for others its something that needs to be checked on the individual users side.

I know this member very well (personal) and I know that she writes down all her passwords. So it's not likely that's she forgets her password over and over again.

Bpoetic says she has the same problem on her forum. So it's happening to more accounts.

To bad you don't know how this can be solved. Thanks for you time Sanket!

I was talking about your forum & your members. None of your other members have any problem related to this.

bpoetic is talking about multiple membership which needs clarification & i planned to sort the problem.

There is a certain protocol staff follows, before taking technical assistance. If you feel, its not required & don't want to follow it. There is nothing more i could do.

Yep sir Sanket, but what is bad in this? If you'll give him other password, he can change the password to his own that he want and tell us if the problem is solved. Ok, sorry, just thought that is not something bad in this. Wink

I had a similar problem with a member. No matter what password she put in, even the reset one I put in which was 123456 came up as invalid password. I had to delete her and rejoin her using a temp password and then she reset it and now she is fine.
