Solved Enrollment / unrollment button

Post by dwarlorf on December 5th 2011, 9:58 am

Hello,

We have a forum in which we post tournament announcement topics. Is there a way to have people enroll/unroll by themselves instead of a moderator having to edit the topic every time?

An enrollment/unrollment button that can be found at the right top of the topic next to the "quote" and "edit" buttons is preferred or otherwise on the page itself.

I figure if it can be done it has to be via a HTML page? Any help or redirection to more information is appreciated. I have been searching the web for this but I'm not sure about the right terminology.

PS I hope this is the right place to ask this question, if not my apologies.

Hello,

Could you explain what this enroll/unroll button would do? The best way you would do this is if you had a staff member edit the main post with the information.

That's what we do now but we'd like to automate that.

Basically what we're doing now is as follows:

A tournament organizer announces a tournament by starting a topic and anyone can reply to let the organizer know he/she wants to participate. The tournament organizer then adds the name of that person to the topic he started.

The way we'd like it to be is that a participant can enroll him/herself via a button or some other way (depending on whats technically possible) by entering his/her name. That name would then automatically be added to the tournament announcement topic (the one the organizer started).

And of course if for some reason that person decides not to participate after all, he/she can unroll as well and the name would be removed again.

The only thing is that it would require permissions, which you would give everyone rights to edit a topic or post which is no possible.
