i guess you mean to have groups, certain members in the group or groups, then you set the groups permissions for where you wish them to have permissions how you wish?

Please explain more.

Ok, so on help.forumotion.com there is a forum promotion section. If you go there, not just anyone can post, but if your proposal is accepted, then they make a post for you, and then you are allowed to post there.

My question is, How does the admin allow certain people to post there.
You see if i went there and hit New Topic.

It would say i don't have the access to post here. But if i went to the proposals section of the forum promotion, and requested a topic, then if it was accepted, i would be able to post there.

Is that better to understand?

Because i think i just said the same thing, but like 5 times.

They are sub forums, so the permissions are set for members to post and follow the guideline rules on how to promote your forum, Then if it is accepted a staff member moves the post to it's appropriate category for the forum/post that was accepted.

So you would just create a forum, then add the sub forums you want to that forum, and set the permissions how you wish

Ok, so what you mean is that first...

I Create a forum, put the posting positions as Administrators.

Then i create another forum, connect it to the first forum, and put the posing permissions as Members?

You want to create the main forum thats going to be on your index with members having the options to see and read the sub forums within the forum
Then add your sub forums you want, and set the permissions accordingly for what you to allow.

This will explain it better Smile

or

you should set the permissions as you go along and create them.

when you are in permissions, open advanced options...

Must have advanced Admin panel on!!!

then open a topic = not ticked for members
reply to a message = ticked for members
