In progress Problems extending domain

Post by Caroline on January 6th 2012, 11:07 am

First topic message reminder :

I'm having big problems with extending my domain.

The domain was expired yesterday and when I extend it on the panel, I saw we get it for free 'due tot the
activity on the board'.
So yeahhhh, great!

However, a few hours later, I received an e-mail:

Domain refused
Your application for the domain pspdreamland.com unfortunately refused. This was done for the following reason:
The Forum and / or the domain name in violation of our Terms of Use.

I went to the Dutch board from 'actieforum' (we are a Dutch forum) and asked what the problem was, because we have been around 2 years without any problems.
But no answer at all Crying or Very sad

Then I decided to buy credits, because I was afraid that the domain name otherwise would be gone.
So I bought 2000 credits but when I try to buy the domain, it is not possible.

Again asked on the Dutch support board for help, but still nothing.

So *please please please* can you help me?

Over 100 members now see that the board is probably closed and I run out of ideas what I can do to extend the domain.

Hope you can help me.

Please forgive my English, it is not my first language.

Thank you very much in advance,

Caroline

Sanket, I got an e-mail from GoDaddy Crying or Very sad
I have to renew the domain or I get $80,00 fee Shocked

They refer me to a link for my account, but I don't have an account at GoDaddy, because all was done through the Admin. panel. So I can't login at GoDaddy.

I think you understand I don't want to pay $80,00 fee.
So if it can't be extended, I want it to be cancelled completely.
I already looked around how to dow that, and found this:
There is an option in Misc Tab // Spend Credits // Domain // You should see an option for delete.
But I don't have that option.

So please, let me know if it will be extended very soon and if not, how I can cancel / delete it completely so I don't
have to pay $80,00.

Thank you,

Caroline

Well probably we can't renew the domain. I speak voor my colleague, because she is ill. We have the possibility to renew it, but we can't do that by the Admin panel, only through an account of GoDaddy.

The problem is, that we don't have an account of GoDaddy, so we can't pay for it. I also made an account at GoDaddy to pay for our forum, but that doesn't work unfortunately.

Can we do something else? Please let us know and thanks for your patience,

Pepim

Sanket, the links in mails that are automatically sent, for example if you receive a private message or subscribe to a topic still refer to the domain name.
Is there a way to temporarily adjust it until the domain is working again? Or is it better to change absolutely nothing at all at the moment?

Edit: Sanket, there is a bigger problem: we can't activate new members. The adress in the activation mail is also refering to the domain name. So we can't give access to new members anymore.

I donít want to be impatient, but donít know what to do anymore Crying or Very sad
We have a nice forum with lots of active members and we just want to continue, so please help or at least
let us know is something will be done or not.

Our domain officially ended on Januar 6th and as soon as we heard what the
problem was, we fixed it.

Now, there are a few problems:

1) All automatically send emailss members receive, refer to the
domain name. I tried to change this, but canít find an option how to do this in the admin.panel.
The problems to acces new member is solved, we found an other way to do this.

2) Of other topics on this board I understand that the domain is not registered in the name of the administrator of the forum for privacy protection, but my own name is registered at GoDaddy and they also directly approach me by mail.
However, I have no account at GoDaddy and always did every domain renewal through the admin. board.
Iím a bit confused by this and hope you can clarify this?

3) The mail from GoDaddy where is says that the domain is quarantined one month
and if we want it back in that month, we have to pay $80,00 (?)

4) All advertising thatís been done in the past two years direct to our domain name.
So we almost donít get new member the last month.

I understand that it takes time, but I hope by now you can clarify whether we get the domain name back or not?
Then we can continue with our forum, because now we donít know what to do: try to change all advertisement to the original board link or leave it under the domain.

So please help and let me know if we get it back. If so, then please make sure I donít have
to pay $80,00 fee (as been told in the mail from GoDaddy directly to me).
If we donít get it back, then also let me know, then we can try to change all advertisement and search engines s.a. Google.

Please forgive me my English, it is not my first language and I tried to explain the problems
as good as I can.

Thank you very much in advance

Caroline

Caroline, sorry i could not answer to your problems before this as i was away due to personal reasons.

1) Give me a screenshot of the same with the date the email is received along with the custom domain name & the forumotion url.

2) If you bought a domain name from forumotion, you can ignore the email from go daddy.

3) That information was passed onto you from the Godfather?

4) Domain name cancellation, has affected receiving new members. I Can't suggest you anything to get more members than to advertise your website.

Screenshot from an email I received from a Private Message. Received Januari 30th

Domain name: pspdreamland.com
Forummotion url: pspdreamland.actieforum.com

OK
@Sanket wrote:

No, received from GoDaddy.
I quote:
THE DOMAIN NAMES BELOW EXPIRED Jan. 06, 2012. YOU MUST RENEW BEFORE Jan. 17, 2012 OR THESE DOMAINS WILL BE CANCELLED.

If a domain name is cancelled, any website or email services associated with it will stop working. Retrieving your domain from deletion during this period will cost you $80.00.
Don't let it happen - Renew Today!

Yes I understand this, but I would like to know if we get the domain back or not.
If we get it back, I can leave the advertisement on the domain name, if we don't get it back I will change all advertisement (as far as possible) to the forummation url.

But I still don't know if we get it back, I haven't heard anything from The Godfather regarding this (or regarding anything else).
We very much want it back, but don't know how. You said we have to wait.. so we are still waiting *lol*

Thank you Sanket for your answer and information.

Hello Caroline Hello

As you know, your domain name has expired. So we can't renew it, you'll have to wait... An expired domain name is available for purchase about 60 days after it expires. The only solution is to wait until then and buy your domain name with credits.

Hope it answers to your issue,

Thank you Wink

Shocked But I resolved the issue on Januar 6th and renewal was possible until Januar 17th.
But I couldn't renew it because that possibility wasn't available in the admin.panel.
So I asked and asked here what to do so I can extend on time the domain and I was told to wait. And now I must wait for another 60 days? I don't think that is fair Confused

Can you tell me please what I can do about the automaticly send emails with the wrong adress in it? They refer still
to the domain and I don't know how to change that.
Thank you.

Edit: Also, we can't spend credits on the domain anymore. That option isn't available in the admin.panel since the domain was refused. When I go to spend credits and then domain, I get redirected to spend credits. So something isn't working properly.

Wait another 60 days is part of the domain name world. Not an issue with Forumotion.

There are no emails sent to renew domain names. You should keep an eye out in admin panel and know how long you have till your domain expires.

MrMario, with all respect: we did do that.
We renewed the domain, but it was refused because of some 'ero' content (it wasn't realy ero, but the name of the category).
As soon as we heard what the problem was, we removed it and that was all in time for renewal of the domain (11 days before it expired).
But then the option in the admin.panel wasn't available anymore. We could not renew it. I asked for it here (still in time, 11 days before), but the answer was 'just wait'.
We did wait and waited some more... and now we hear we have to wait 60 days because we were to late? Well, that isn't true, we weren't to late.

Hello Caroline Hello

I know you weren't late, the problem is that at this time, we no longer have hand on this domain name... Sad

However, the issue of the credits feature is solved, you can now spend credits for a domain name.

Thank you for fixing it Leeloo.
It is a pity that it's not been done before in time for renewal of our domain Crying or Very sad
I waited all this time, we had still 10 days for renewal at first and now everything is a mess...

But well, I think there is nothing more to do then to try to get everything fixed now and wait 2 months.

Could you explain how the links in the emails refer back to the correct address? They now refer still to the
domain name (so automaticly send emails for example if someones gets a private message, for new members and for subscriptions on topics). I posted a printscreen of an email in a topic above.
In 'General' and 'Forumadress' it says pspdreamland.actieforum.com so that is the right adress, but the links in the emails still refers to the domain name.

Also I hope you can help with the problem that we are at the moment - since domain expired - nowhere to be found in Google anymore.
Is the google site verification depending on the link? So on the domain name? Or should it also work onder de 'actieforum' adress?

Thank you Leeloo, I know you can't help it, but I'm a bit sad about it. I think we did everything in time and now
we have all this problems Crying or Very sad

Thank you Leeloo. I have done that with the meta tags 2 years ago, when I started the board.
But I do not know if that information is linked to the domain name? And whether we should re-do this because the domain name link does not work anymore? Or does it not affect the modified forum address?
